    I'd like to hear everyone else's opinions/preferences.

    Ellie or Abby:
I've always liked Ellie's personality. She's hilarious when she's traveling with a companion. A lot of good quips. And I like her passion for music, dinosaurs, outer space, comics, Joel's movies, etc... I find Abby a bit dull and too serious all the time. I totally bought into why she killed Joel and her motive for revenge, but overall I felt Ellie was more relatable.

Favorite Supporting Character: Jesse. Everyone in the story seemed to like him.
Least Favorite Supporting Character: Owen. Something about him I can't stand.

Favorite Story Moment: Abby sparing the lives of Ellie and Dina at the theater.
Least Favorite Story Moment: I was happy and surprised Tommy was still alive, but hated how he flipped out on Ellie at the farm when she had reservations about tracking down Abby again.

Favorite Gameplay Moment: Ellie and Joel's flashback when they went looking for the guitar shop to get some strings was a fun play through.
Least Favorite Gameplay Moment: Riding around in the boat in Seattle. I hated that thing. Also, I hated killing dogs and listening to them squeal. Or when you killed the dog's solider and the dog was left whining because his/her master was dead - not a good feeling.

As much as I dislike Owen, I disliked Dina way more.

Finished. Much like the first game, there were more than a few times throughout where the moment-to-moment gameplay was a slog to get through. Couldn’t stand any encounter that involved stalkers, just not enjoyable to play at all. Overall though, this was a much smoother experience to actually play than the first one.

Visually nothing more needs to be said, it’s a triumph. All that crunch seems have paid off in that department.

Much like the first game, the strength of this one was the characters and their interactions. Everyone was mostly well-written. The second half of the game really humanizes Abby, who comes across as nothing more than a snarling villain at the beginning. The plot with Lev was a highlight as well.

The set piece moments were almost universally good. The Haven sequence, the sniper sequence, chasing Nora through the hospital, the open world part near the beginning, etc.

As for the overall plot, pretty average revenge/cycle of violence narrative. Not really impressed by it at all. Just kind of bog-standard in a way that sort of just leaves me feeling nothing at the end. I was way more invested in the Lev/Yara subplot and Abby’s growing relationship with them. The main plot got the job done, but it wasn’t enough to justify this game’s existence for me. I also think it could’ve done with some editing to make it a bit shorter.

Overall I don’t really know how to score it. If the first game was a 7/10 for me then this one is maybe a 7.5/10.

This basically sums up my experience with it too. I don't know how it's a masterpiece.

it’s almost as if different people take different things away from art.

I enjoyed this guy’s take, we seem to have taken away essentially the same things.

    I was kidding, man.

It's a fine game, but has enough issues where I just can't call it a masterpiece.

not a man, also don’t really care one way or the other that you don’t think it’s masterpiece. I was genuinely wondering if you didn’t believe it was a form of art.

as someone who absolutely loved the first game and this one (easily 9.5-10/10 for both of them, imo), I'm curious to hear some games that are 9/10 or 10/10 for you?

it's the internet so there's no way for me to word this without it sounding like I'm "coming at you" but I'm actually curious!

Just finished the game. Absolutely livid that it’s over. If anything it was too short.

obviously it wasn't "objectively" too short, but I thought there were still avenues for the story to explore / I wanted to keep playing.

    New Game+ thankfully exists though.
