It's basically a true crime show so if you find those scary, then it probably would be

Yeah, I just watched the first episode and am starting the second.

I never watched this show before so I don’t know if it just true crime stuff or like alien shit, haha

As a kid, Sightings was fascinating to me but scared me to death. We need a new, great alien abduction movie.

There is only one “paranormal/unexplained” episode and it’s the alien one. The rest is just true crime but open ended

Just finished the French episode and hopped on Instagram to see that my friend posted her brand new newborn baby pictures and they named him Xavier...

  9. Well it’s not called Solved Mysteries. Haha. I hope they do updates like on the classic show. I need answers!

Lol I know I just meant it’s not all mysterious stuff like the old show, it’s just true crime that doesn’t have answers

    I, too, need answers

i have to give credit to The Big Bang Theory for one joke here. There’s a scene where Sheldon dislikes the movie name “Lethal Weapon” because “aren’t all weapons by their very nature lethal?” And then says, “and don’t get me started on Unsolved Mysteries!” Which makes sense since “mystery” means ‘something that is difficult or impossible to solve’. If it was “solved” it wouldn’t be a mystery!

Yeah it was just boring. 2nd episode will be the true test for you lol. Episode 3 went back up to 'ok but just boring' range again. Not sure if I'll keep going

I want to try Hamilton because of all the glowing praise I've heard about it but it just seems so... incredibly corny lol. Everything I've heard from the soundtrack (which admittedly isn't much) sounds like it's rap made for people who aren't actually rap fans, and Lin-Manuel gets really annoying to me sometimes on social media lol. Should I give it a try anyway?

Hamilton is good and possibly brilliant, but can and should survive some critical engagement. Yes, it’s rap made consumable for white audiences but it’s also innovative. There’s definitely some great songs in there, but they still feel very “broadway” because, well, thats what it is. That said, no musical soundtrack will ever sound NOT corny when you don’t have the visual component attached. Also, Black-washing the cast of founding fathers is a conversation in itself. Its intent is “reclamation,” which in my opinion does successfully. This also encourages audiences to draw parallels between the American revolution and the fight for civil/immigrant rights happening now. That said, it’s also asking Black and other actors of color to portray white slave owners—and beyond that, the script (mostly) eludes confronting that dichotomy which isnt great.

Also, Daveed Diggs of clipping. plays Thomas Jefferson/Lafayette and kills it.

The songwriting overall is cool in how melodies are sampled and influenced by Black music (you’ll recognize an interpolation here and there) and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s passion for that kind of thing really shines through.

I waited a long time before I listened to the soundtrack, thinking I would need to see the play first to understand it. When I finally broke down and put it on I was surprised how well the story is told with just the songs

  23. There's hardly any dialogue that isn't in a song. Only one scene stood out to me as not being part of the soundtrack.

My initial feelings on Hamilton were the same, corny rap for white people who never listen to rap. But I pretty quickly grew to appreciate it for being a great pop musical. The rapping isn't bad, but it's incredibly catchy and the performers are all fantastic. It basically consumed me for an entire year.

I still need to watch it (embarrassingly enough, I actually watched a bootleg of the show a couple years back). Kind of waiting for the right time.

My ex-wife was obsessed with it. I could probably still quote half the play because she played the soundtrack so much lol
