I wish I had a good, honest contrarian “Batman & Robin is good actually” opinion, but while I love a lot about it that people hate, I just don’t think it works as a whole. Wish it were more consistently camp goodness & didn’t feel so dry at times.

That being said, a lot is good to great, especially Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy, who’s legit a favorite on screen Batman villain for me. Love her vibe so much.

 

I love The Lost Boys a lot, and I always enjoyed The Client even if it’s sometimes hard to see Brad Renfro now knowing what he went through. I’ve never seen any of the Batman movies but I know people here like them for the camp factor and being just fun and silly. Maybe I’ll have to give one a try at some point.

 

Personal favorite films of his would be The Lost Boys, Flatliners & St. Elmo's Fire, but his filmography is pretty full of some very solid movies through the last several decades. I actually really like his take on the Batman movies. If you want to argue that Christopher Nolan's Batman films are better films overall, there's a case there, but I've always felt like Joel Schumacher's take was an equally valid one on the material. His 90's John Grisham adaptions are pretty great too. I remember really liking Tigerland as a high school film nerd, and it was the movie that introduced me to Colin Farrell.

 

The Lost Boys is an all-timer for me and a big reason why I got into horror as a kid

 

Aside from rob lowe. Maybe the worst performance of all times.

 

My take on the Schumacher Batman films is they’re not really that great but many people find them worse than they are because it was a jolt to go from Burton’s darker take on Batman back to what more resembled the camp of the old TV show.
