finally finished it today and this was probably my only actual complaint. some sections and areas of the game are SO big, and I was constantly worrying if I was going to suddenly move into the next section without wanting to. but, I guess I know now for my second play-through.

I absolutely loved this game. I was nervous because I enjoyed the first one so much, like most of us, but it turns out there was nothing to be nervous about. there were so many parts that were devastating. the violence wasn't lessened for me at all by the end of it. I think that they kept it fresh (but still emotionally brutal) throughout the game - The Rattlers were a bunch of psychopaths; the pillars chilled me to the bone.
the two Abby/Ellie boss fights just destroyed me. the controller felt so heavy in my hands during both of them. it was so hard to hit Ellie, and it was just as hard to slice up Abby. I found myself barely able to hit the buttons to be honest. I've never felt anything close to that in any video game I've played.
lastly, I should have expected it, but I was destroyed upon coming back to the Farm and finding Dina had left. I know she said that she would and that basically counts as "closure." but I was hoping for Ellie to go to Jackson to find her, or for Ellie to find a letter. I just desperately wanted them to reconnect.
overall, this was a triumph in my opinion. I'm not sure if I want Naughty Dog to make another TLOU or to create a whole new universe, but I trust them regardless. I think Ellie's story has been told (even if I really want evidence of her being with Dina) but the whole post-Cordyceps world fascinates me and I would love to see more of it.

there seems to be some speculation that her and Dina might’ve reconnected. Haven’t verified it myself, but someone mentioned that you don’t have the bracelet when you go look for Abby, but that you’re wearing it when you go back to the farmhouse, coupled with the fact that Ellie is cleaned up, has none of her weapons on her, makes it seem like she may have gone back to Jackson first, and then returned to the farmhouse for the guitar.

might be a stretch, but I'm here to believe that it's canon. hahah.

unrelated to Dina/Ellie, I went to the TLOU2 subreddit today, and it's a complete cesspool. do not recommend at all. what a mess. there are very few posts that try to seriously criticize the game, and the rest of the posts are transphobic posts about Abby (and a few about Lev), insistence that they're not sexist just because they don't like TLOU2, and weird insults about Neil Druckmann. just really disgusting to see.

Almost all criticism of the game that I've seen of the game outside of this forum has been rooted in misogyny/transphobia/homophobia. It's disgusting. Nerds are the worst.

Question after I finished the game: Is Tommy really alive? I thought when he showed up at the farm it was a dream sequence, signifying Ellie's guilt over his death and not seeking revenge. I watched the man get shot in the head and now I'm super confused because the general consensus is that he's actually alive?

Regardless, loved the game. Started up a new game plus right away. What a ride.

reading through TLOU wiki, it says this. "However, the angle he is shot at misses and the bullet grazed the orbital plate temple of Tommy's head, resulting in him losing an eye and some mobility."
He didn't die, but it was kind of weird/not as well explained what fully happened

I also thought he died. I was really surprised to see him show up. but with the limp and his missing eye, I guess it makes sense. Abby does shoot him in the midst of chaos, so it's totally understandable that she could graze his head and not fatally hit him.

The sales for this dropped 80% in the 2nd week in the UK. Compare that to other big PS4 exclusives, Spider-Man dropped 47% and God of War dropped 35% in their 2nd weeks. It will be interesting to see if the sales drop that much in the US.

That number is for boxed versions of the game and not digital. Uncharted 4 fell 78% in week 2. Which is a ps4 only game so......

    Finally finished this.

The complaints about pacing and padding are 100% legitimate imo - multiple stretches of this game felt like an absolute slog (though somewhat redeemed by how much I enjoy sniping headshots).

The complaints about the plot, however............. how the fuck is anyone complaining about this plot? This thing was beautiful, stomach churning and heart wrenching in all the right ways. Not gonna bother elaborating 'cause everything I could say has already been said here, but yeah, this shit was remarkable.

    Ellie/Abby for Smash DLC.

Yeah and uncharted 4 was also boxed in with PS4s later on, thus the big number of sales. Maybe they’ll box LoU2 with PS4s to do the same. It’s definitely a steep decline compared to other big titles.

There's a journal entry in the endgame that, unfortunately, seems to negate that possibility.

Just finished it. Fucking excellent. Feels very satisfying to have had my expectations met and then completely excelled on in spite of trolls and naysayers haha. Ahhhh. Just yeah. It’s gonna stick with me for a long time.

Good guy, but a bad dude

Feels like one of those games that will make me drop videogames altogether for awhile. I just don’t see much of anything measuring up for now. Witcher 3, RDR 2, and God of War all had this effect
