Nothing will ever beat driving down the street in the summer, windows rolled down screaming "like when we would take rides in your American muscle car" with a bunch of friends inside

 

OTIP then CW very very closely after for me, but RW has some of their best songs on there, I can never get enough of Where Your Heartache Exists and In Remission

I figured this album was one of the last ones of the year that could steal AOTY for me and this single all but confirms that. Damn. Immediately in love with this.

 

I was gonna say this is immediately their best single, but then I remembered in remission, and then I remembered obituaries, and then I remembered I was born. But this is def up there

 

Lookers is so good. I'm so excited for new Menz

 

can't wait for Tom's songs to stop this from being an album I love all the way through

Impossible Past is perfect. Chamberlain Waits is second but CW would be comparable if it was an EP.

Nah man, the vocals sound stuck behind everything else.

 

OTIP-CW-RW for me, but CW and RW so close that it's like splitting hairs

 

Americana is probably the singular term. Their sound musically is just taking their punk/classic rock/blues influences and putting it all together. That sort of throwback, but fresh (at the time) sound combined with Brian's lyrics put them in the sweet spot for sounding new and fresh for younger people while not alienating older folks. The Menzingers definitely have some of that, but they embrace their punk sound more often than Gaslight on the recent records imo. I think that shows too in the age demo of the fan bases. The Menzingers opened for Gaslight during the American Slang cycle, so the two bands are definitely connected.

 

You can also throw Against Me into that group of Americana tinged punk rock
