The funny thing is, I still don't think TLOU series is Naughty Dog's best. I think the first TLOU is up there, but Uncharted 2 is just stellar all the way through.

I think both Last of Us games and Uncharted 4 are better than Uncharted 2.

Not adjusted for time I’d rate UC2 a smidge above either of them but it just doesn’t hold up.

I personally like Crash and the first Jak and Daxter more than any Uncharted game but I genuinely love every game they've made.

I actually don't particularly care for CB

    Very well said.

The world building with the documents and what not really grounds the game (I still think about Ish and the sewer group from the first game) It was something I thought of as the game progressed. Ellie’s path of revenge against Abby’s Firefly crew is of course something the player is led to desire from the onset. By the time you get the photos, you’re really getting a glimpse into those characters which eventually comes full circle with Abby’s side.

It’s just so fucking bleak when reading a letter and it appears their situation had promise and one bite or spore contact destroys everything.

Uncharted 2 doesn’t totally hold up today but at the time the jump in quality from the first game was crazy. I remember watching the review on x-play and going from not having it on my radar at all to needing to play it.

yeah definitely not how I felt at all haha. nothing comical about it to me. I was legitimately crying hard while Ellie was holding Abby under water. I guess it just works for you or it doesn’t. :shrug2:

yeah the violence just more intense and effective as it went on for me as I got more invested in the story and characters. the ending had a completely different energy to it than the rest of the game.

I would maybe agree that the ending had a different energy, but in a negative way. By the time Ellie is slicing up Abby in a knife fight on the beach, it just felt like it was trying too hard to be push the violence. Felt like Druckmann is just rubbing our nose in it at that point.
It's fine if landed for you, I'm just saying I personally thought it became a bit of a joke. I didn't hate the game overall, but didn't love it either. And knowing what I know now, I think I would have preferred if the first game was a standalone and this didn't exist.

Also I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Abby's half of the game. When it first switched to her I was kind of torn, but the Skybridge - Decent - Hospital portion of the game was by far my favorite outside of Ellie's flashbacks

also a lot of Abby’s character progression and shift in how she views the WLF/the world happens through her reactions to the letters. I remember early on she was responding to the Scars’ letters with contempt and dismissiveness (“shouldn’t have joined a crazy cult!” in response to rather tragic stuff, etc.), and I remember rolling my eyes and thinking “fuuuuuck this character.” then slowly her tone shifts to something more akin to “they were just people trying to survive the best way they thought they could.” I also really appreciate the character of Owen bc I think he planted those seeds in her head anyway pretty early on.

I think a lot of things were rushed during her part.

I just finished it and enjoyed it immensely more than the first. I’m kinda at a loss to explain how I feel, but it was an incredible experience and genuinely am shocked at how much I loved this game. They took so many risks I never thought they would, and honestly that ending was haunting for me.

going into the house at the end, seeing it completely empty, just realizing in that moment how much Ellie lost, it broke me. And then the scene with Joel. Just, fuck.

I played the Crash games but honestly don't remember anything about them. Is the trilogy remaster good? I also haven't actually disliked any of these games despite being disappointed in certain aspects of some of them.

I still think about the Abby/Lev sections of the game. They had the best gameplay sections but also I just instantly felt attached and protective towards Lev.

Lev was a treasure. The interactions with him and Abby were wonderful. The whole concept of playing as Abby was such a genuine and welcome surprise for me
