I'd prefer the meat grinder over those two options both.

Same, the first 2 Mercyful Fate and first 4 King Diamond albums are all fucking fantastic albums that I want to add to my collection someday. Before covid I usually could find some King Diamond picture discs at record stores but I hate picture discs unless the album has only been pressed on picture disc, then I have no choice.

Listening to Killswitch's "Atonement" again, and it just sucks so much they can't produce something on the level of Alive or Just Breathing, or As Daylight Dies, again. They've pretty much made the same album three times in a row now

A more power metal sound will bring them more listeners and bigger concert crowds, which is what I guess every band wants, but I'm afraid the band reached it's creative peak with As Daylight Dies

The analogy I randomly thought of, is that the band were an artistic A24 studio film for the first few albums, and now are basically a Marvel film

I still like a solid handful of tracks off each new Jesse album. Still love the Howard stuff most, but Jesse holds his own.

We reach for the longest shadow

If you've been frequenting the new PTH thread, you know I love that album. Trying to find something in a similar vein to listen to so I don't wear out Palimpsest. Anyone got some progressive rock/metal with mostly clean vocals with some technicality? I don't really have a finger to the pulse with this genre, so anything is fair game.

I would check out the last couple of albums from The Contortionist. Also, Tesseract.

I would lean moreso towards KSE never releasing a bad album exactly, but they have kind of become average riff-y metalcore now. They're like pizza. Hard to do poorly, but easy to do average.
