Conor Oberst explains why Bright Eyes' new album avoids talking about Trump

 

I get the reasoning. His presidency started from such a bizarre place that there's almost nowhere left to go with him. Look at the lyrics for the new songs and it's clear it's political in other ways without bringing Trump into it directly.

 

it can be overtly political without it referencing trump. look at the last desaparecidos album.

 

completely agree, and in many ways, that makes the messaging and the art that much better/timeless. IMO, if you can focus on larger scale topics, that's when people really show excellence in their craft.

 

Nothing worse than tying your album to references that will seem dated really quickly, right?

Taking me back to when I had to sell my BE vinyl box set (along with most of my collection) to pay rent after I got laid off a few years ago. This hits hard.

 

When you realize we are getting new Sufjan a month after new Bright Eyes and your emotions can not handle all of it

 

I'm amped on both of those albums

 

I played mariana trench for the first time in awhile yesterday and got very excited for this release all over again. Also, my signed song books showed up and they are super duper cool

 

It hasn’t hit me yet

 

ngl i copped the leak and its fantastic. haven't listened to it in about a month or more. just gonna sit it out and wait for my vinyl and shirt and cry

 

in significantly more amped for one than the other, i’ll let you guess which one is which

 

God I think I owned all of these or at least 90Percent of them in high school

No love for Home Vol 4?
