Loved the thoughts on preaching to the choir and blindspots with audiences etc., I've been thinking about it a lot the past few days.

Has anyone seen sales projections for this yet? I'm surprised it wasn't a part of HitsDailyDouble's projected Top 20, I feel like it's been all anybody's been talking about all week.

it released on a Thursday so that definitely messed with the first week numbers

  4. I finally spun the vinyl today and was pretty disappointed by the pressing quality, thought the ends of both sides sounded pretty compressed and distorted. Still a beautiful package though and I am still listening to this album multiple times a day.

    what a waste of wood

I've really only listened to this + the Hum and Owen records

  9. Yep, and once I knew that my heart sunk knowing that I Know the End would sound the same. There really needs to be some sort of vinyl quality standards so that people know what they're getting, so many pressings are terrible.

I'm listening to my Petals for Armor copy right now and it's better but not by much.

I couldn’t agree with this more. So much pressing information is hidden from the consumer. It almost seems as if there is no quality standards. It comes down to the integrity of the label and plants and how much care they want to put in pressing a record. People pay a lot of money and we should know the source of the audio every single time. Who’s pressing it. Who’s cutting the lacquers. All the engineers. Paid $22 for Neil Young’s Homegrown and it sounds incredible. Paid $30 for Bon Iver i,I and it’s pretty much a CD rip.

thought i was the only one, but i was also able to confirm that my booklet was not sliced (idk what the term is) correctly so i thought i was special to be that unlucky.

  13. Exactly! I have a friend in a band signed to Fearless and when their record came out and it actually was pressed well, I immediately asked him who did it so I could watch out for more pressings from them. Unfortunately, he didn't know too much (label handled most of it), but this information should be public on the sale page. I wish the Discogs community was more active in commenting on vinyl quality too.

Anyways, obligatory "this record is fantastic" to keep the discussion on the album.

Mine was fine. It’s nowhere near as bad as fun’s Some Nights, which is by far the worst sounding vinyl pressing I own.

man I hope mine isn’t warped. I ordered on that day where all her merch sales were going towards BLM and I have heard nothing on when it’s shipping lol

still not great. It’s a weird implication that because there was a big push of teenage girl fandom during the Beatles era that they invented music? I’m sure there are some people that don’t like the 1975 because teenage girls like it, but it just seems like a bunch of weird generalizations.

Yea that explanation didn't make sense to me either. I get what she's going for though. If a dude said something to the effect of "that's a band for girls!" as a means to write them off, that's definitely sexist. But the rest of the point doesn't make sense to me.
