was looking through an old email account while working out the other day and decided to search for old AP update emails. Sort of funny when looking back at it.

Saw this and had to share lol.

HAHA amazing find! I cannot believe how optimistic the 2013 me was regarding Tom DeLonge.

If I remember it right, he gave some bullshit interview about how pumped he was playing those shows, how pumped he was to get into the studio after the tour, etc, etc. Then bam 2 months later Tom. Is. Out. Last time I fell for his hype!

I was listening to BCR and wondering why Tom decided he had to sound like U2 but I imagine his lyrical direction would have had the same trajectory either way so I'm fine with it. Wouldn't change anything about a blink world that resulted in Untitled being made.

Yeah he only seemed to care about blink during the recording of DED until it got released and when they played those Untitled shows. I was super pumped too because they were planning on recording in a house again like they did for Untitled. Silly us.

This is unironically awesome. Reminds me of Alk3, maybe Weezer, and sure thing Nirvana.

I listened to this a few times. I dig it, too bad the vocals sound robotic (obviously) but really cool to see the song flipped like that. Reminded me of some AFI

First thing I've seen from Tom in a decade that is worth the price, tempting but I'll pass. It is cool though

  15. “The Rock Show” was released as a single 19 years ago today. Fuck I feel old.

I still remember running downstairs to the family room and tuning into TRL for the video premiere. I was so fucking excited because this was the first new music from the band since Enema came out, which had completely ruled my life for those 2 years since it came it out.

A couple years ago, I went to LA for a show and I visited a bunch of the filming locations from the video, which was a blast.

  16. Still a great video and the song is pop punk perfection. Such a jam.

It's so weird seeing Tom play the riff by hitting the 5th fret on the A string instead of just doing an open D.

Also weird seeing him play a les paul, and with barely any tattoos.

Currently listening to Nine for probably the first time in 2020. This album was such a massive step up from California and Neighborhoods, it makes me upset that it kinda got overlooked. Heaven is probably my favorite post-Untitled song.

  20. Wow that IS super weird seeing him play it like that!

I ordered one too. I have a squier version of his sig guitar and that is the only stock guitar I’ve owned that’s never broken on me. It has MANY miles on it. Truly a workhorse till this day.

Tom’s guitar techs have been sharing videos and photos of his custom shop strats. So cool seeing those up close.

that’s the way i learned to play the song bc I saw an old video of him playing it live with his sticker strat. He plays it like that in the dammit music video and in the big day out performance too.

In 1997 i learned it on the e string at the 8th fret

I like how he does it, open d sounds kinda soft, you cang dig into the note more at 5.

I don’t really love the way tom plays dumpweed, that riff sounds a lot nicer to me in first position
