After reading some other comments and updates on other sites and this thread, its a crazy amount of complaining elsewhere. Glad not everyone is negative about what they're seeing and reading. Excited for a lot of this.

 

That was a good keynote. A 2 year transition sounds pretty reasonable, I'm sure people will still complain at launch but this is a good step. Also does this mean we're getting Shortcuts support across all devices now?

I'm excited for the rest of the week. It's boring but I love all the privacy stuff they're adding, even if it is an extra pain for developers. From the WWDC website it looks like they are also adding a more restrictive form of sharing Photos with apps called Limited Photos Library.

 

I don't know how people can't be excited about Apple's move to their own chips. It just gives them so much more flexibility, instead of relying on Intel to innovate they can now push forward themselves.

I'll be holding out on the new chip Macbook's later this year before I even consider upgrading for sure.

 

I thought WWDC was really great to watch. I thought it was well done. The only part which i felt was a wee bit cringe was during the health section (the dancing/yoga matt)

iPhone:
- Memoji - does anyone actually use this? Always seemed like a throwaway feature but seems to get so much focus? Am i missing something here?
- Maps - Intrigued by the focus on cycling.
- Messages - nice features but a bit late for me as 90% of people i speak to default to WhatsApp.

iPads
- Phone call - not taking the full screen up is really nice.
- AirPods - Auto switch seems great! Can get rid of that shortcut!

Mac - Big Sur
- Really digging that new design!!!
- Safari Extensions - Finally!

 

I'm happy to see AirPods getting auto switching. It's a feature I've loved on my main pair of headphones, but always wished others had.

Literally had to go to the apple store today for this issue. Got my right one replaced for free so not a huge deal but still annoying

 

did you install it on your main phone or a test device?

 

memojis are a big deal - maybe not to techy people but to the normal consumer they love it. the majority of everyone in my contacts list has a Memoji has their profile

Has anyone installed Big Sur on their primary Mac? For the first time every I want to update to a beta but I'm not sure how stable they are / this one is?

 

I thought everything today looked great.

The handwriting tech on the iPad felt like that old-school Apple Magic.

Okay, I think now that iPhones will finally have widgets and PIP, that's enough for me to give things a shot leaving the Android world. Crazy it took over a decade to do, but exciting nonetheless. I like how interactive they seem to be. And wow, the new messaging changes seem to make it similar to Slack? And I'm here for it

 

Message threads/inline replies sound good on paper but from my experience it’s misused and end up being more annoying

 

As an Android user for 10 years I honestly have no idea what this guy is trying to compare App Clip to as if it's super late in the game. Idk what the equivalent to that would be on my Samsung phone.

 

Ok 32 GB is insanely fast but still my Logic downloads are gonna take 20+ hours love to see it

 

I always install betas because I don't mind dealing with bugs. This time, I installed it and Pokemon Go doesn't open at all, which is one of the very few 3rd party apps I use every day so back to iOS 13.6 I go! Sorry Apple, you lose the fight against my Pokemon!

man the PS1 should have been as powerful as the PS5, that'd be so sick dude.

anyway I am glad Big Sur will be compatible on all of my/my family's Macs.
I'm a little worried about the fake iPhone 12(?) renders out there having this super shiny chrom-y finish and not the sleeker, understated matte/brushed look of the current iPad Pro. They look like the shiny fake plastic chrome on the Chinatown NYC toys I used to try and get as a kid. That being said these are just physical mock ups from random people so I'm not too worried.

 

Wait, are widgets on iPadOS seriously only available in today view...? Huh??
