Yeah, I still use my iPod Classic every day.

I wish I hadn't gotten rid of mine, but I use Apple Music so much that I probably wouldn't have much use for it anyway

I get it, but you can just save whatever you want on Spotify for offline listening.

Used to have an ipod classic with sd cards in it that had way more music than I was ever going to listen to. The thing committed Sudoku a few years ago and now I generally prefer what streaming services offer but I really do often miss having a device solely devoted to music.

I still have a 160gb iPod classic that I got as a gift literally right before it stopped making sense to have

still trying to sell that thing if anyone’s interested lmao

  6. I held off on the streaming game for a long time but can’t imagine going back now. There’s just wayyy too much music out there, so much of which I would never get around to checking out if it wasn’t literally 2-3 taps of my thumb away

Agree with all of this. Yeah streaming pays artists like garbage, but there’s so many artists that I got into because of streaming which led me to buying their record, going to their show, getting merch, etc

I still stream, but I like having a separate phone and iPod. Plus, I'm very picky with what I listen to and most of the time I have no clue what I actually want to hear, so I like just being able to shuffle through the 1000s of songs on my iPod, rather than have to search for stuff I know and like on Spotify.

I feel your pain. Mine is beaten and battered (i.e missing a bit of its screen) and loses its battery a lot quicker.

My iPod classic died late last year after I don't even know how many years. Kinda miss using it at my screen printing job instead of my phone. :verysad:

I still have my iPod classic but I don't have the charging cable so it's just been sitting around with a dead battery for years. I used to be so obsessed with having entire catalogs from artists so I'm sure it's filled with a lot of interesting b sides and demos and live albums and stuff

For me, streaming is easier for checking out new stuff, but way more difficult for keeping track of what I actually care about. So I use streaming for the former and iTunes/iPod/vinyl for the latter. Every time I use Spotify, though, I'm reminded of how much I loathe the interface and user experience. I'm not going to make the full leap until I have to.

I'm exactly this way. I still need a collection that's mine. Spotify is for exploring.

You never know what will get taken down or replaced with a remaster you don't like.

I use an iPod for my car and primarily iTunes on my computer. Spotify for any streaming instances, but still mostly mp3 as much as I can.

  14. I've got a 512 gb SD card (with a few backups on external drives) which contains my entire music library, the latter I have rebuilt so many times over the years by being under vigilant about backups and viruses. Dumb me.

I do use Spotify at times but, as I don't have wifi at the moment and Youtube already takes up so much data, I always go back to the old fashioned way of music listening.

I miss the old Lastfm too. Their radio feature was so helpful for exploring.

I exclusively use Spotify, which I don’t love, but it mostly works. I’ve thought about switching to Apple Music quite a few times but never pulled the trigger.

I only use Amazon Music and have had almost no complaints in the 2+ years I’ve had it. I worried at first about how often things would go missing / be taken off and I don’t think I’ve had that happen once yet.

    *knock on wood*

Amazing I used to ONLY buy albums and never streamed or even knew how to do that. And now that’s all I do. So much money wasted because I refused to adapt for so long lmao

Yesss I finally see other people that do exactly what I do with music

I use Spotify to listen to new things I'm interested in that I haven't heard before, then if I like it enough I'll buy it/download it and put it on my phone. I know they're just MP3s but a sense of ownership for my favorite music is really important to me and I don't get that from streaming at all

Yeah, you and I have talked about this before. Just the frequency with which I seem to see posts about "X album from this band is back on Spotify!" is pretty eye-opening.

I do a similar thing where I use Apple Music but then purchase whatever music I absolutely love

Same, I'm definitely a completist to an extent. Also, it's funny old b-sides get uploaded to Spotify/etc and you see how many people act like it's brand new.

Yep, been a Spotify premium user since 2014 or so and almost never have issues. If there’s something not on there, I get it and put it on my iPhone through iTunes or Amazon.

I haven’t bought a CD in nearly a decade. I buy vinyl for deluxe editions and the artwork.

The real jaw-dropper for me was when I put on "I Know I'm Not Wrong" from Tusk and the new remaster just didn't give me any of the goosebumps that song always did. And I couldn't find the old mix anywhere on Spotify. That magic was unavailable to me on streaming like that.

Wow hurt. I want to start a hardcore band that just plays intros and outros. Called either in and out or bust it.
