Let’s say the call was 80 players and let’s say they all agree with not playing, that’s almost a quarter of your league saying “no thanks” (15 players x 30 teams = 450 players) which makes it seem like this won’t happen or teams will try and fill with god knows who players from god knows where (and that certainly won’t make anyone happy).

But this is a business of course and people want money. Especially rich old white dudes that don’t have to go in a bubble that’s not a bubble in Orlando.

 

NBAPA is expecting no fans in arenas all next season too.

I think at this point I’d be curious to just see what certain guys think about the bubble. If LeBron, Giannis, Embiid, Kawhi, etc don’t want to play then the league shouldn’t come back. It’s a tough call to make either way I’m not sure there are any good options.

 

well i think that’s the issue. i have a hard time imagining any of those dudes aren’t trying to come back. i would imagine they all want a ring. but do the 9th or 10th men on their teams? probably not.

It’s dumb that the nba is getting positive coverage from saying athletes don’t have to play if they don’t want to while completely ignoring the financial losses they would take and that the owners would definitely try to stymy any progression from the nbpa if they did so. The nba is not as big as the nfl but they’re definitely starting to wield power in some of the same ways the nfl does.

 

the cap hit both from the china debacle early in the season and then if they don’t come back is going to be a major, major hindrance on the league going forward. honestly don’t see how they don’t come back. it could negatively effect the league for a decade to come otherwise.
