Might be more alt-pop or something than R&B but this new Joji album is shaping up to be good

 

I certainly didn't expect to wake up to Teddy Riley and Babyface trending on twitter. Way too many people in my feed asking who they are smh

Been listening to my mega R&B playlist, my magnum opus, because frankly I am too exhausted to care about new music. Sometimes I forget how great this song is.

Damn I could keep going all day I think. The culture doesn't pay enough attention to pre-What's the 411? era R&B.

 

This new Alina Baraz is extremely my shit

 

Yeah it's fantastic. Dreamy R&B tends to run together but this is one of the best releases I've heard in that genre since... her debut EP. Very reminiscent of Samantha James at times too.

The Alina album is enjoyable, but honestly.... It's basically the same song over and over, really suffers from a lack of diversity

She's from Denmark, but moved to London. It's this amazing blend of soul and R&B and jazz, and it's just the most perfect mix, backed by a gorgeous voice. Highly recommend you all check it out

 

The Hip Hop thread has started this thing where a member open threads for classic albums from the 80s, 90s and 00s. I’ve been thinking we could do the same. If others here think it would work, I would be happy to do it.

Thought I’d replied yesterday but guess I just typed up a response and never posted. Anyway, I’m down. My first request is Mama’s Gun by Erykah Badu, released in 2000- one of my favorite r&b albums of all time.

 

That is a good one. I’ve been thinking the best one to start with would be ‘What’s The 411?’. What do you think?
