It’s annoying that every time the nba does something negative that should be talked about, sports media goes back to comparing it to football and saying “well, the nfl is much worse tho”.

it is annoying but it happens for every sport. anytime there’s a labor dispute it’s “well, look at the MLB”

The nba is enriching and further expanding the wealth of horrible businesses, they’re also playing under new rules at the dismay of many of their athletes but what’s really troubling is the mlb wants to move their teams to South Korea and have stuffed animals in the stands.

According to NBA twitter if you give it a little while those masks turn into Lakers or Warriors masks.

It’s cool letting them decide if they want to join the teams or not

  14. Yup I don’t think it’s gonna happen

  15. I think it’ll happen but it’s going to be a strange look for the NBA when/if bigger stars don’t want to play.

Yeah, there’s definitely a few who want to do more social justice things instead of playing ball which I respect heavily

I would be pretty awed if prominent players opted to focus on social justice work and shelve the season. I know Bill Russell is still conflicted over playing the day after Martin Luther King was assassinated. I'm not sure every player would frame it this way but, to refuse to offer a distraction from current pressing issues would be remarkable and I'd support it, as much as I want to watch sports.

That would make sense and would be good. Those that do play are gonna have a huge platform to advocate with as well, considering they’ll be the first major sport returning with a lot of eyes on them

Remember hearing Matt Barnes say a lot of Clipper players regret not sitting out after the Sterling news broke as well, but I guess there's also the argument that NBA games right now would have an absolutely massive audience and would be a tremendous platform to make a statement, will be interesting

i don't really see big players dipping out. giannis isn't going to. lebron isn't going to. kawhi won't. idk.

  21. honestly I feel like a good amount of players won't dip out but I could see in a few months or a year later a bunch of stories coming out from players feeling like they were "pressured" to play

I dunno - whole stinks obviously for the players

Maybe the nba will probably give a huge amount to charities the athletes want to support.
