Because that’s totally realistic and what happens every time. There’s never any pushback at all. Everyone is completely willing to listen.

 

It basically ruins any point he could have when he equates child predators with people who said something ignorant once

 

Allegations about that ADTR dude have been going around for a solid decade-plus, I'm sort of (emphasis on sort of) surprised they've never gotten more traction

 

Jeez. I've heard hints but nothing specific like what I posted above. I hope the band will kick him if this gets a ton of traction and they become aware of it.

 

Is that the same member of ADTR who had allegedly abused his ex at Warped Tour or are there multiple terrible people in that band

I used to be good friends with Joshua Woodard. Not just online, but offline as well. I can’t speak to any of the allegations of abuse against him because I wasn’t present for any of them, but believe me when I say he is an absolute piece of shit. Never felt more disrespected by anyone in my life, and one of the most arrogant, pompous dickheads I’ve ever had the displeasure of associating with.

 

Maybe I’m wrong, and maybe his choice of terms wasn’t the best, but is Jason not explicitly talking about cancel culture in relation to people who have made racist remarks in the past? Jim from the Ghost Inside being a recent example. It seems to me like he’s trying to say we should be educating these people and having conversations with them in order to hopefully turn them into allies. I really, really don’t think he’s speaking on predators and child abusers.

Respectfully, I don’t really want to get into specifics on personal experiences here because many of them still kind of haunt me to this day. But let’s just say, he treated my friends, my ex-girlfriend, and I like trash on numerous occasions, with little to no regard for our feelings, wellbeing, etc.

 

I mean why on earth bring brand new up specifically if that’s not what you meant

 

This thread by Jesse from STYG about the TGI situation is interesting, everyone shouting about cancel culture seems to be ignoring

I missed that. My apologies. Thanks for pointing that out. Honestly, I’m not sure why he chose that specific example, but I’d like to think it was an oversight or just a poor choice in the moment. My experiences don’t mean anything, I understand that, but I’ve never known a musician more of an ally to women, POC, LBGBTQ, etc as Jason, so I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt that he chose a poor example in a conversation largely centred around racism in the scene.

 

Like I said any valid points he had became moot when he compared Jesse Lacey child predator to someone who said something insensitive
