its legitimately sad how much you wanna run away from the truth that you gotta refer to actual history as a "Straw man". Makes it crystal clear you aren't actually interested in finding real workable solutions, instead you just wanna live in a fantasy world where racism magically doesn't exist anymore

much law enforcement work can and should be done at the community level. but you still need the state level to hold those communities responsible, and the national level to hold those states responsible.

 

It's clearly not enough, but without all the activism the past couple weeks there wouldn't even be a bill introduced, so we are making progress.

 

I really like some of those ideas. I wish there were more but like...baby steps are still steps?

Yeah I thought it was pretty clear we were talking about what modern day Minneapolis might do when enforcing their laws without police and not some historic racist lynching town.

No, that was in response to you saying what happens when a community fails to enforce the law. I was simply pointing out that a community is incentivized to enforce laws that benefit the community and it can be done without police.

But you can't just pick and choose like that. If Minneapolis can use a community system to enforce their laws, a small town in Alabama could do the same thing. They'll just likely enforce different laws. And so we clearly need something in place to ensure the proper laws are upheld. So now you still need some level of state and federal governments also holding communities accountable and enforcing the laws they won't.

 

The replies are of course mocking 'wokeness' but Judging by how they all seem to have it, very solid chance there's some sort of awareness or event or etc. going on where it got handed out to everyone as part of said event. Like, very much doubt they all got together and decided to all wear traditional African garb just for George Floyd lol
