I feel like his response "I live in my own world without television or the interwebs blasting my day apart" is a very privileged thing to say. On one hand I think it's good he apologized for being late on speaking out but on the other people with a platform who have the ability to speak out shouldn't have to be called out at all to speak out.

Edit: basically in the clip, Rubi Rose says she used to have a thing with Travis when she was younger. The tweet below that is from 2014 which indicates that they were having relations when she was 15 and he was 20.

I still remember the exact day I learned to not say the N word. I was in fourth grade and “battling” with a white friend insults while playing video games. So he’d say “doofus”, I’d say, “idiot” and back and forth we went for... 15 minutes? We had to great real creative after awhile.

finally, it was my turn and I couldn’t think of anything and then I remembered reading some cartoon pop up book of Jackie Robinson where he’s standing in the outfield and the N word literally pops off the page 7-8 times. I had never seen the word before and don’t think I ever heard it so I debated saying it because it seemed like an insult but I wasn’t sure how to say it. Finally I did and my friend paused the game, looked at me like I’ve never seen someone look at a person and said, “don’t say that. Don’t ever say that. To anyone. Ever. Seriously, don’t.”

and I never said it after that.
