Like I said before, all reform would be doing is giving the cops new laws/regulations to break and get away with. Unless we are ending their qualified immunity and dismantling their union, which at that point is almost abolishing them lol

They have ignored or dismantled every reform we've put on them (just look how the body cam thing worked) and at this point I don't think most people protesting are willing to settle and let them do that again

trying to find the tweet but San Francisco has every 8 can't wait protocol and there's still police brutality, I agree that it's the bare minimum and makes sense in theory but in practice it won't work, the fact that it's controversial is scary

    Also wasn't the 8 can't wait started by a scam account/fake charity?

It’s framed to be easy to digest and palpable to the white liberal, Which is probably why it’s been popular on social media.

their research section has some good tools though: joincampaignzero.org/#research

Yeah I mean, I get that it won't solve the problem of police brutality but it helps. It's baffling that there are still cities all cross America that don't have common sense policies in place like requiring officers to de-escalate, require comprehensive reporting, lethal force as a last resort, etc. San Francisco actually does have one of the lowest rates of police killings for major cities, not saying they don't have problems with police brutality, but without those policies I imagine things would be worse.

Like you said, 8 Can't Wait is literally the bare minimum of what we should be doing, but doesn't mean we shouldn't also be trying to end qualified immunity, demilitarize the police, cut funding and funnel it to other aspects of the community, etc.

I Like Campaign Zero's page of overall solutions which go way more in depth than the 8 Can't Wait and talk about. The 8 Can't Wait campaign seems more of the immediate goal of just finally actually doing something.
