Oh shit Rina too. Sorry, i’m half asleep. That album is incredible. The label does really have some great artists.

Gia is one. The Gia thing looks like her creative director didn’t get a proper share for her contributed work? I honestly have no idea what’s going on. Dirty Hit twitter is a shit show at all times of just teenagers yelling at them over every single thing. Any clarity would be more than welcomed.

 

Rina is def more my jam. Gia is clearly talented but I don’t love the tone of her voice. I never would have thought at my age, in a quarantine, I still can’t get enough time to listen to all this music lol

 

Smh the last Wolf Alice record was incredible

Ok the love me guitar solo is SO underrated

as great as their later stuff is, really miss the drum sounds from George and the guitar moments from Hahn

 

Yeah If I Believe You will forever be a top 3 song for them. Absolutely stunning and timeless

 

If I Believe You is one of, like, ten of their songs that will be my favorite on any given day.

 

listening to ILIWYS it’s such a bridge between their later albums and the pre-ILIWYS material that I’m not sure they’ll nail it this well again. Focusing the album to have a cinematic Vibe, which they were trying for on S/t, but still being experimental to have instrumental/post-rock/shoegazing tracks is pretty timeless. It’s simple enough in the production that gives vibrancy to each instrument (yet simple enough), but feels like it’s all live, and from what I read, that’s exactly what they were going for.

I hope they record another album with Crossey as the producer, would be perfect for the DLID project

 

That song was the first where it truly clicked for me. I hated them during their first era (grew to like it in late 2016), but ILIWYS was getting a lot of hype so I checked it out. I liked the first few songs but the stretch from If I Believe You->Somebody Else blew me away. Glad I got to see them twice on that tour.

 

Still stand by the ONLY criticism I have of this album is that I wish the drums slapped a TINY bit harder during lostmyhead

but ballad for sure as hell makes up for it

 

Also, ILIWYS is way more chill than I remembered. ABIIOR is their frenetic, unstable album for now

 

Similar to streaming to TBP, the sound is incomplete without ILIWYS

 

Paris is absolutely perfect, and there’s no arguing that, but it’s not one of my favorites

 

I think if there’s ever a stretch of 4 songs I recommend to someone getting into the band, I’d recommend the first 4 songs from ABI, but Paris to She Lays Down is too perfect within the context of the album to no say it’s their best stretch. Perfect songs, perfect sequencing, I’m just in awe and emotional about it. Love this journey, and I’m here for the rest of it.

 

She Lays Down reminds me a lot of Guys as a closer, it’s such a a stripped down and honest moment on the album that isn’t matched elsewhere.

this replay is kind of recontextualizing NOACF for me, as the parallels are more closely aligned with that album than ABI or s/t. I always find it interesting to try to find patterns within discographies, and s/t->ILIWYS , ABI - Notes might be more analogous than I previously thought.

in conclusion, I fucking love this band.

yeah i’ve been thinking about those parallels a lot myself. S/T established the band as one thing and then expanded upon that and blew it up to epic proportions, then ABIIOR felt like almost like a re-defining moment for them and now NOACF is them expanding upon THAT and blowing it up to epic proportions.

 

That touring member is Jamie Squire actually. Not sure if Jamie Oborne goes on tour with them though, so your point could still stand.
