Idk if you guys are trying not to talk about everything or not...but I've been going insane over what's going on right now with everything. (As I'm sure everyone is) We've seen the police do horrible traumatizing things to protestors...things I will never forget seeing. I knew it was bad but this has changed me in a way I don't think I can come back from. This is what I'm wrestling with and I don't know how I feel about it- I'm pretty much on board with #acab but something that I keep thinking about is the children of policemen and women that arent trying to instigate anything and respecting the public protest (some even kneeling and walking along in the protests...but at the same time I know that mothers, father's, and children have been taken away from POC for years so is it like all is fair in love and war? What's everyone's opinion on this? Also, I wonder if the officers were just trying to appease protesters and not so much marching in solidarity with them. I don't even know what to think anymore.

 

as Sean and Lisa can attest to Long Island loves cops but I've never seen actual BLM stuff in person lol

 

I see that stuff all the time, along with the flags and ***** stickers of course.

 

I know what you mean. Several of my friends got tear gassed and hit with rubber bullets today
I have empathy for children because they have no say in who their parents are. But so frequently families of cops really put their head in the ground and straight up refuse to see any issues and we can’t do anything if people can’t even acknowledge the issues

 

Yeah I’m suddenly really grateful that I don’t see blue lives matter shit very often
Even if I do live in a predominately conservative area so I see lots of trump shit

I have friends and family members who are police, so i know relatively firsthand that not all cops are “bad”, but honestly it takes so much more than seeing a photo of a white cop hugging a black guy. Its the equivalent of changing your facebook picture to have a “praying for _____” whenever theres a mass shooting or something. I firmly believe there are good police out there but the fucking burden is on them to step the fuck up. The policehood is like a fraternity you dont turn your back on your brother/you dont fuck over your own and its so toxic. Fuck that. Show me a cop who tackles another cop off of someone whos being treated badly. Its not enough just to kneel for a picture or put out an IG video.

i saw a post today that said “we dont need non-racist cops, we need anti-racist cops” and the difference between the two is so large.

 

I see sticker on cars everywhere and the army navy store in patchogue started flying their blue line flag this weekend

 

I think any cops acting nice are doing it for publicity most likely, people can't choose their family but hopefully they're critical which I'm sure a lot are

 

One of my very good friends is an NYPD officer, he doesnt have a mean bone in his body, but his friends made him custom cornhole boards and theyre the blueline flags - very supreme facepalm seeing them in person.
