I can say from what I saw in the city around here, most of the rioting/looting was done by kids and very young adults at night. Mostly being dumbasses rather than making a political statement but meh.

 

Will be curious to see if anything comes of this?

Friend of mine was on the frontlines of the Dallas protest yesterday. I mean right in front of the group. She caught the moment on Snapchat DPD charged at peaceful protestors unprovoked. It was terrifying.

 

It is definitely old but seems to be getting more traction now than I’ve seen in the past

 

Y’know, you don’t have to do this right now. In fact, during protests over police brutality, you really shouldn’t be doing this.

It’s ok to not have an “easy answer.” I don’t have one. I actually explicitly asked for resources in here the other day in part because of that, which I’ve partially read & partially skimmed so far but still have saved to spend more time with. Resources on alternatives, history, strategy, etc. For both my sake & the sake of people I talk to, I’m working on having more developed thoughts on this topic.

But, like, ending your post w/ “it sounds like you agree with the protestors then” certainly makes it seem like you, personally, do want an “easy answer.” Which, when that easy answer is brutalizing black people & allies in real time... ain’t great.

 

So here in Fort Worth there were protests this weekend and seems that it’s one of the few large cities that things didn’t get violent even though Dallas went haywire a mere 30 miles away.

I’m glad it was peaceful but wonder why it was so different
