can't stop thinking about how the same people were like "most cops are good there's just a few bad apples" want to murder every protester because some people are burning down businesses which is obviously not as bad

 

This is what my friend said in our group chat yesterday:

“Oh it’s bullshit for sure. But burning down buildings looting how does this do anything but make people fear the community. And fear makes people do stupid shit. I’m all for protesting. I think those cops deserve the death penalty, but using this as an “opportunity “ to destroy your city is a bullshit excuse. This in no way justify’s it. And I’m sure a lot of people are doing this thinking it’s showing the government we are fed up, but it’s hurting local businesses more. You think target is gonna rebuild after this? I’d be amazed! But I’m sure a lot of people are doing this because they just want to get shit for free or destroy stuff and hide behind the idea of doing it because of what happened. Them doing this makes no sense at all and every single person should go to jail for participating.”

I don't think people like that actually think the officer should get the death penalty.

 

I used to be in the “bad cops give good cops a bad rap” crowd and while I’m not fully on the ACAB train yet, the last year or two has been quite eye opening.

It’s all so depressing and difficult to try and ignore or not look into to things that you just can’t fathom could be true, especially from the people you’re supposed to trust.
