CLT has a number of protests planned this weekend

 

St. Paul citizen here. I live near the Walgreens in St. Paul that was looted.

The system has failed people of color. Period. By design. This is inevitable and overdue. People here are angry and tired and not waiting for the usual channels to clear this up.

It is going to get a LOT worse here before it gets better. The only thing that may stop some of it is arresting all four officers and charging them with murder. If that doesn’t happen before this weekend, tonight’s footage will look like a parade.

You can FEEL IT in the air. It’s going down, one way or another.

Other twin citizens, take care of yourselves and stay safe. No justice, no peace. I’ll see you out there ✊

One thing I’ve noticed this week: I’ve never seen so many *white* people this upset

 

Uhhhh, so a rich white girl I know got bullied off instagram by a muslim socialist girl.

The white girl posted a stupid, tone-deaf paragraph about how "not all cops are bad, and we shouldn't threaten people". So the muslim girl threatened to beat her up at school next year, and called her a white supremacist and threatened to doxx her.

This legitimately feels like a huge cultural shift is happening here. Very conflicted.

EDIT: Definitely not defending the white girl, just giving an example of how divisive this situation is.

 

As if he couldn't get any worse. No chance the police could have possibly escalated the situation huh.

Turned on MSNBC and there appeared to be some protesters protecting the reporter from other protesters getting too close. Good stuff.

 

Yeah I don’t think I’ve seen anybody trying to justify this one. Didn’t Trump even express sympathy for George?

 

I've mostly concentrated on posting other news on social media because, frankly, most of the people I'm friends with on facebook have been posting about it. I made a point to say that I see a lot of people saying shit about the police and institutional racism and etc. that I was saying 5-6 years ago and getting into huge arguments with people who were telling me I was wrong so...progress.

 

I don't know how you can watch the video and not be angry, there have been a lot of blatant videos showcasing police brutality and murder, far too many, this is one of the most clear and most sadistic.

 

Anything come of the armed white guys descending on the third precinct?

The one that still sticks out in my mind the most, that still bugs me that it didn't set people off as much (maybe because it was close to the Michael Brown shooting and people may have been burnt out at that point) was the I believe South Carolina one where the guy was clearly running (quite slowly) away from the cop and the cop just unloaded into his back...and then appeared to drop something next to the body.

Shit is burned into my head.

 

WOuldn't be surprised if they're just trying to say that to get people away so they can go in and put the fire out and such.
