First Cow is getting re-released in the fall.

 

Feels like a lot of the Academy watch along stuff I've seen is for movies they'd never be caught dead recognizing with actual awards. But hey who gives a shit

 

So it seems like all of the Ringer’s podcasts going forward will be Spotify exclusives? In thst all of their new ones will be?

I believe you can still listen to them fully with a Free tier membership.

 

My complaint is with them being exclusive to Spotify, and not available on my podcast app.

 

I was under the impression that only new shows would be Spotify-exclusive. New episodes of existing shows would still be in the normal feeds, unless something has changed recently.

 

Yeah that hasn’t changed. It’s still annoying.

 

MacGruber is a masterpiece. I can't believe it came from the SNL cesspool.

 

Only God Forgives is a deeply frustrating movie

 

One of the worst films ever made.

 

I won't go that far, but it's definitely a mess. Feels kind of insane to say bc there's not much plot to begin with, but there needed to be even less plot and it needed to just lean into the visual experience even more

 

Style over substance movies are totally hit or miss. They either work for you or they don’t.

I’ve only seen it once but I loved it.

 

Refn is one of the worst directors to be needlessly heralded this last decade

 

Neon demon is good tho

 

no, it is not. the closest movie he has made to good is Valhalla rising, which is bad.

 

Valhalla Rising and Drive were great. The Neon Demon was okay.

 

Neon Demon is simultaneously the worst movie ever made and a masterpiece

 

I still like Drive even after having seen Thief and the Driver

 

Yeah I like Drive

 

Haven't seen Neon Demon or Valhalla but I get the vibe that Drive is good bc Refn didn't write it

 

i enjoyed drive the first time but it has held up like poop

 

Drive was slightly less bad than Neon Demon and Only God Forgives.
