I had two of those users blocked after I watched them in separate incidents be extremely rude to other users and then I unblocked them because I'm too forgiving. Lesson learned.

There are some conversations that also seem to strike deeper nerves than just whether or not someone likes the same movie as you. When you mention that something they love might be problematic or damaging in some way, the response is much more personal and upsetting. Sometimes people just don’t want to grapple with how much they’ve internalized and identified with a story or a character that needs to be looked at through a very critical lens instead of just as fun entertainment. That’s not anything to do with this site of course, it’s common everywhere.

Well said. In this particular situation, the rush to be defensive by multiple people was really quite something to witness.

There's entertainment that I loved years ago that is 100% problematic today, but that doesn't mean I can't look back on it and realize that there's something wrong with it. Even if I still have some positive feelings about it because of nostalgia or whatever.
