The best thing about this band is how the stuff that doesn’t originally ring off ends up working its way into your brain. I remember being kind of meh on the C side of ABI and now it’s one of my favorite sections of that album.

this!!! Exactly. I had the same thing with ABI.

Another reason I am glad I held off on listening to the singles- hearing the “oh what’s the vibe?” part on FSOM for the first time.

I really also love hearing how happy Matty sounds on this now that he is clean. I heard the ache on ABI.

I also fucking loved crazy, manic, high AF Matty on ILIW

I get a lot of enjoyment out of that whole period, just as a fan and someone who ends up feeling personally invested- I’m happy for Matty. I feel the same way about Justin Pierre.

Oddly enough I think I prefer Justin's fucked up music better too :/ It is fantastic for both of them though for sure. Far less important than the tunes.

On third listen now. The bridge on Roadkill is some of their best work - simple but beautiful.

I was! I was! Just been busy with work at home, so haven't had a lot of free time last two days.

I was able to listen to it 3 straight times this morning - afternoon trying to catch up on grading/planning more remote learning. It's honestly the easiest 81 minute listen of anything to me.

If nothing else, this record was necessary to bring us Roadkill. It's certainly not my fave on the record, but I wholeheartedly believe it's *that* track on the record. It reminds me a lot of the first time I heard If I Believe You (albeit significantly less cinematic and bombastic). Like - oh shit! cool.

I'm beginning to come around to thinking that Playing On My Mind might be my favorite acoustic 1975 song

i’m loving the positivity and everyone picking out their own different highlights. I love polarizing albums bc everyone always comes away with different faves but basically the whole tracklist (of a 22 track record!!!!) has been mentioned and that’s rad!

I love all of it lol, we’ll see if that stays. that’s the determining factor as to whether or not it tops ILIWYS probably.

Im feeling at the moment that s/t was the perfect precursor to ILIWYS and ABI was an entirely separate but perfect precursor to Notes.

    Edit: ILIWYS

I’m sitting by a fire next to a lake and there’s a group of people listening to them down the coast. It’s a refreshing change from the constant pop country trump shit I’ve been hearing all week.
