I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

I totally get that, and honestly that’s what I love about this band and this community, I would never have had the appreciation for this album if it wasn’t for these users. That’s the beautiful thing about this forum, and this band, I was able to connect and understand where many of the users of this forum were coming from because of my mind opening up to the dance music @yung_ting @unbornwhiskey and so many others exposed me to. Sorry to get emotional, by you all changed my life in some small way

thank you, sorry I didn’t realize it sooner

Okay, I think this album is brilliant and I am excited to have it soundtrack my life.. I just really wish things panned out the way they were planned prior to COVID-19 because this was going to be a victory lap of a week, graduate from grad school and then go to Hawaii next week for my brother's wedding.. all soundtracked to this record! (:/ maybe next year?)

But hey that's life ain't it... everything always turns out so differently than what you build up in your head. Reading descriptions of these songs in pre-release articles... none of them really ended up sounding anything like what I had envisioned in my head.

First of all with repeat listens and picking up on all the details, I'm excited to find all the audio easter eggs.

I am so curious about how this album will be perceived in say 10 years with the inclusion of greta on the first track.

First listen-through I heard "yeah I know" and was just like uhhhh? Then it kind of clicked in my head like this strange desire to go back and feel the weird feelings that song provoked in me.. that's so this band for me though.. there's always something that I'm compelled to revisit that I can never really put my finger on.

Then because she goes is great and I absolutely love roadkill... it might be my current favorite I wish I could hear it driving across the country. Especially the bridge what a vibe. I was thinking I wouldnt be into the idea of a "country-ish" 1975 song and this ended up being one of my favorite tracks on the album

I think theres something you should know is a banger too in the same vein as frail state of mind.

What should I say is great I am curious to see if they push that to radio

also wow didnt occur to me that dont worry would still have the 1975 esque production

I remain envious of anyone who waited to experience this record as a whole but theres still plenty for me to indulge on and honestly a lost of the pre release singles ive already developed memories with which is cool to kind of have run through my mind when they play.

You called this record “wildly special” which is one example (and what Jason was talking about). It’s just a vibe I’ve sensed even though the album just leaked today. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong though.

  6. But is it better than Thriller, Also?

i listened to it five times today and just personally i think it's wildly special, and i'm here with other 1975 fans talking about whether or not that is true. i think the early professional reviews are indicative of the actual reception its gonna get, which is: all over the place

  8. It’s my least returned to Allie X album so far and I haven’t been able to pin down *why* so far. There’s some longer thoughts in a few of the newsletters but I liked the single songs more than I’ve returned to the full album. I start it every now and again and yet rarely get through it, I don’t know if it’s the hooks or lyrics but I always end up not feeling it and it loses me.

My contention would be that if that’s the aim, it didn’t hit it though. That concept is literally “my shit” and yet I’d argue sequencing and a overall lack of direction keeps it from being that. It has that within it, for sure, but it’s not actualized by the totality of the songs and how it’s constructed. And that’s not to say it’s not good, or doesn’t have great songs, but it also misses just enough that it doesn’t reach that promised potential.

  10. I think I've already listened to Tonight (IWIWYB) more times than a few of the singles.

Going in completely blind to the whole thing, I thought I was gonna like Too Shy the most - but this is far and away my favorite song on here. Instant classic '75 song.

  12. Yeah, it's funny cause I remember seeing the tracklist for the first time and reading that title like "this is gonna be a bop for sure" and now it's probably gonna join Robbers, Couldn't Be More In Love, Paris and She's American as top tier.

Then Because She Goes sounds like it could be a TV theme song from a ‘90s WB show. But it also reminds me of the How I Met Your Mother theme song?

    who knows Supporter

For those waiting versus listening now, why? I see twitter stans using morality reasoning that doesn’t really hold up against Matty’s don’t care attitude. But just curious if there are other reasons at play.
