Feels so good to be hyped on Misery Signals again. When Jesse did his one spoken word line mid-song on the new single I lost it.

Does anyone know what happened to Karl? I don't remember reading anything about why he was no longer the vocalist.

Also I'm sorry I missed THRASH METAL THVRSDAY so today for THRASH METAL FRIDAY I've got three thrash bangers for the playlist.

    1. Annihilator - Never, Neverland - "Kraf Dinner" - I could have chosen literally any song on this album because it's such a riff heavy album, but this is the only song about macaroni and cheese.
    2. Anthrax - Among the Living - "Efilnikufesin (N.F.L.)" - weird title, huh? It spells "nice fucking life" backwards, aka "NFL". Apparently this song is about Jon Belushi?
    3. Testament - The New Order - "Disciples of the Watch" - my favorite song from my second favorite Testament album.

I was gonna post something by Artillery to have all "A" thrash bands but Spotify doesn't have their best album for some dumb reason.

    My three picks:

Nifelheim - Nifelheim - Sodomizer (@theagentcoma I did not pick any thrash for Thursday either so I should rectify it with this slab of black thrash hedonism)

Gorguts - Obscura - Nostalgia (The birth of skronk)

Spectral Voice - Eroded Corridors of Unbeing - Dissolution (Monolith Death/Doom featuring many members of Blood Incantation)

All of these are sick. My mind was blown the first time I listened to Obscura. It was not an easy album to get into, felt like a carnival of chaos lol

It's Saturday so my picks for today are once again new stuff from this past week.

Exhumed - "Rot Your Brain" - I know it was posted in the thread already, might as well add this death/grind song to the playlist.

Sinister - "Deformation of the Holy Realm" - death metal from the Netherlands.

Mercyless - "Banished From Heaven" - French death/thrash.

The band’s popularity peaked when Controller came out, and after having been touring extensively for years the guys began pursuing side projects after feeling a bit burned out on the band. Those included Solace, Lowtalker, Living With Lions, and Burning Empires. Stu also became a permanent member of Comeback Kid.

When the band reconfigured for Absent Light, Stu and Kyle didn’t return and the Morgan brothers wrote the majority of the album with Greg T (Who still worked the band to produce this new album.) Karl in more recent years admitted that he felt somewhat separated from the band, being that he didn’t live near them and communication seemed slim during the writing process of that album. He wasn’t in a great place in his life, struggled to write his vocals and was helped out by the remaining members to finish the album. I don’t believe they really even toured with him much after it came out, and then they stopped talking altogether.

Jesse’s return came because of the 10-year anniversary tour for Magnum, and then they asked him to stick with it. The band has been writing this new album with him slowly over the past handful of years while also touring again with the Malice lineup.

    My three picks:

Varathron - Walpurgisnacht - Birthrise of the Graven Image (Hellenic royalty)

Furia - Księżyc Milczy Luty - Grzej (The polish band that should be bigger than Behemoth)

Woods of Ypres - Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light - Death Is Not An Exit (RIP David)

Well damn this is a detailed response, thanks a bunch. I'm glad I managed to catch them with Karl on the Absent Light tour and then with Jesse on the anniversary tour. Was supposed to see them again last month but you know, stuff happened

I know it probably looks weird seeing Tony Soprano talk in depth about Misery Signals, but yes one of my favorite metal bands of all time.
