I'm finally playing a Miku game on hard mode regularly and medaling and it feels good

I'm absolutely awful at it. The mechanics are so bizarre compared to other rhythm games. Any tips?

 

I try to use the d-pad for all holds and buttons for regular pushes, and when there's fast splits between abxy I do all xy on the dpad (up/left respectively) and ab on the button side. Not sure if that is optimal or helps but it's what I've found to be most comfortable.

If you're having issues with tracking the timing when the screen gets chaotic and things fly in from directions I just usually use the arrows on the silhouettes rather than bothering trying to track where the commands fly from

I'm not amazing, I can get clear-to-good medals on hard mode on this one, but that's all worked well for me

 

the way i’m practicing it is to just use A/B/X/Y for simple songs but split it this way for the rest

Dpad: Left/Down
A/B/X/Y: Up/Right

but holds are also done on the dpad. i really hope that setup works, i don’t want to relearn things haha

 

I like up+left on the left hand just because of the layout of the Switch controller making it easier to still easily reach to ZL while doing those 2 but yeah either way works haha

 

it’s still early for me so i can def still change things.

idk if this is relevant but are you also left handed? i realized it’s led me to being used to some really weird control layouts over the years

 

It's definitely one of those things where if changing your forms is too uncomfortable it'll mess you up no matter how good the economy of motion is so whatever is most comfortable will always be better than whatever is objectively best

I'll try a few more techniques and see if I can get into a rhythm. The customization options are really expansive.

Project Future Tone and Project Mirai DX had great songs.

yeah day 1 i picked out a bunch of cool songs i remembered from project mirai dx but when i played again i found another set of songs that i really enjoyed.

i think the only one i didn’t like so far is the Factory tyrant miku song. idk if it’ll grow on me
