This thread made me do the exact same thing with my favorite John Prine songs.

Letting You Go is pretty easily my favorite after one listen. I feel like I looked for a good song about a fathers love for his daughter shortly after my little girl was born 2 years ago, and now I feel like I finally have that song.

Holy hell the guitar solos on "Overseas" are bound to be year highlights. Phenomenal.

I was just about to post something similar, I’ve wanted a song like this from him for a while. So good.

The tone on all these solos is immaculate

  11. One of the best parts of "Overseas" is that overdriven scratchy roar when the lead guitar first comes back in to start playing the main riff after the choruses. So so good

Really enjoyed my first listen, can’t wait to dig in more this weekend to get more familiar with the lyrics. Be Afraid is pretty easily my least favorite but I still like it. I need to sleep but I don’t want to stop listening to Overseas.

Came here to post this. This is his best sounding album to date. The solo is so god damn good.

We reach for the longest shadow

I'm only on Overseas, but man, you can EASILY hear how they meticulously planned these parts/recordings so much more than they did on Nashville Sound. I know I'm only on Overseas but what a song.

Well after 1 listen (and repeats of a couple tracks) this easily stronger than TNS for me. Incredible record. Can't wait to really dive into the lyrics more going forward.

Hearing that song live is a religious experience.

Okay I lied "Be Afraid" was the only song I listened to. Opener was alright, I could really do without the repetitive last 2 minutes or however long it goes on for (feels like forever).

heh I might start this album at track 2 from this point on.. It's just too damn repetitive.

I've come to really like how the opener builds. Reminds me of "Goodbye Sky Harbor" in that it's these little subtle flourishes getting added to the song with each repetition.
