i don’t think it really was going to make that much. it’s not an actual movie - it’s a recording of one of the live performances. it’s closer to a fathom live event or the beastie boys documentary than it is the upcoming in the heights film. makes a lot of sense for streaming.

 

I somehow missed that The Lodge was in Hulu. Need to see that ASAP.

This sounds like it is going to be a scripted movie with actors, not a documentary. This has a chance to be very bad but I will definitely watch it lol.

I only know Freak Friday. It is a bad song and the fact that people are still making Chris Brown relevant sucks!!

 

Oh damn I had no idea he did anything with Chris Brown, that's fucked up. I just remember my sister's bf showing me a couple of his music videos a few years ago and I thought they were pretty funny

Is that why people hate him though? Hundreds of artists have collaborated with him and don't get any hate for it.

 

It’s a big part of why I do and I think why many others here do. I also feel the same way about anyone else who collaborates with him, it’s a pretty instantaneous way to lose my support forever.

 

Also the song pretty much glorifies Chris Brown

 

I don't disagree that collabing with Chris Brown is a terrible terrible look (and that's being generous), I just don't see the same hate for Drake, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, T-Pain, A$AP Ferg, etc... (the list goes on and on)

I think actual hip hop fans just kind of wrote Lil Dicky off as a "meme rapper" and never took him seriously. It's supposed to be tongue in cheek, but it was never really funny and the music wasn't any good. After watching DAVE, I have more respect for this whole gimmick, but I'm still not really a Lil Dicky fan. I will 100% watch another season of DAVE though (despite him collabing with CB, which I do think really sucks)

I mean if you look at who all he's worked with, you'd have to write off half the industry. It's sad.

 

Yeah, I don't understand why people still give him the time of day but I shouldn't be surprised unfortunately.

That song was literally the first thing I've ever heard from Lil Dicky though so that's why I've been turned off by him and never tried to watch the show.

 

I think you answered your own question right there about why tons of people hate him more than the others you mentioned. His schtick being terrible would be enough to write off by itself without adding something incredibly gross on top of it.

The fact that many people get infinite passes for working with him just because they’re popular is also awful and a completely separate ongoing issue.

 

Earth and Freaky Friday are enough to hate him

 

also Lil Dicky has an extremely punchable face and I don't watch shows with people with punchable faces haha
