I enjoy all of these new songs for what they are, fun, upbeat pop punk tracks, but man, the lyrics across almost all of these are super cringeworthy.

It sounds like they're trying to recreate their lyrical style from earlier in their career and I don't know if any band has ever really done that successfully without over-correcting

I really don't think they care what anyone thinks about their lyrics/style. They're just doing what's fun and what they enjoy. And that is a quality I will always prefer in bands I like...regardless of the end result.

If you haven't heard the rest of the album yet then you are in for a treat :crylaugh:. This is coming from a big NFG fan.

Still I think it's a solid NFG record.

I haven’t, just the songs that have been officially released, but I’ve read all the posts in here and I’m genuinely concerned about what’s to come lol

Thinking about getting "You're sweeter than a birthday cake, so everybody wants a piece" tattooed on my thigh.

    Not Without a Fight
was such a great album and the last 3 (now 4) albums just seems to be a regression to a clean no frills "pop-punk" sound.

This song seems too forced together for my liking. Breaking down in the chorus then half time in the verse is...something.

It kinda pains me because I know they can do so much better.

For sure! Loved NWAF but couldn’t give two shits about any album after that

  12. The lack of Makes Me Sick love right now is making me sick...

NWAF and Makes Me Sick are gold.

Makes Me Sick >> Radiosurgery > Not Without A Fight >/= Resurrection..

Makes me sick is their best album out of the four. The other three have lots of hits and Duds, but NWAF is the one I return to the least

Makes Me Sick is arguably their 3rd best album

I feel like Radiosurgery is more top heavy, whereas NWAF is a bit more consistent throughout the entire album. I love the first half of Radiosurgery, but it falls off hard for me about half way.

You don't like Summer Fling, Memories and Battle Scars, Trainwreck? All of those are bangers

For me NWAF is less consistent than their other recent records, the singles are really good but there's a lot of meh on there.

I like Radiosurgery for the most part up to and including Summer Fling (which is super catchy). It's everything after that loses me.

EDIT: I initially read this as NWAF. Here's my response to that

    Da Fuq?

    Self titled
    Sticks and Stones
    Coming Home

    and it's not even close

Hot Take: Self-Titled is fine but it's in the middle of their discography for me.

IDK how that would be. It's literally their whole sound in one album. Unless you're bothered by the production of it then I could see that. But even then great songs always shine through any kind of production issues.

I loved S/T when I was kid. Then it became pretty unlistenable for me when I started developing an ear for music. The terrible vocals almost made my ears bleed. BUT THEN the 10 year anniversary remastered version came out and it reminded me of why I loved it so much as kid. Plus....Hit or Miss in American Pie 2? Loved it.

Playing Hit Or Miss and Sincerely Me in my high school cover band was always fun too.

Same. I'll throw the title track in there too. I also really like the bonus songs from Radiosurgery. I listen to them a lot.

I'm with you! Over Again and Sadness especially. Believe it or not, Radiosurgery is probably in my top three, or at least four, NFG records.
