lower output pickups = more vintage tones generally - which is what I’m into. more clarity and focused frequency range.

Jazzmasters are wide wound and much hotter output unless maybe you buy some boutique pickups for them

Jaguar pickups are the same as Strat pickups except they have that bear claw design for extra shielding. They are lower output.

Yeah knew they were lower. I think with Jazzmasters I actually like the hotter output for dumb feedback stuff + too much reverb and modulation. Works for me. And as universally agreed on - beautiful shape.

The pickups essentially being the same on the Strat too just means it’s not worth me owning both a Strat and a Jag. Hence my interest in another Jazzmaster - it’s a drastically different sound. Already got four single coil guitars so I’m after a new flavour!

yeah I think jazzmasters sound really great for alt rock except usually one would select a guitar without 60 cycle hum for that genre. less about clean tones.

many DO like them for surf though. and I believe one was used on one of the famous Morricone spaghetti western soundtracks. but like I said - I think Strats and Jags are better for that sound which tbf is niche

How old are they? These kids are 6-13 and I can pretty much just sit and they will let me know exactly what each other is doing.

4 (almost 5) and 2.5, so a little young to just leave alone completely. But they do pretty good playing together and keeping each other entertained. Can't wait for it to actually get warm out so they can be outside all day
