    My three choices:

Thou - Oakland - The Severed Genitals of Every Rapist Hang Bleeding from These Trees (@swboyd reminded me that Thou is not in this playlist. Time to remedy that.)

Kommand - Demo II - Wasteland (death metal cassettecore filth)

Krallice - Years Past Matter - IIIIIIII (one of the best experimental USBM bands)

    Ok for female fronted bands:

Extremity - Extremely Fucking Dead - "Chalice of Pus" - the band that the vocalist of Cretin fronted before, which is cool that @Jon posted them. No longer together, they had a few solid releases on 20BS. Chunky death metal.

Unleash the Archers - Apex - "Awakening" - I am by no means a power metal fan, but this album is catchy af including this song in particular.

Azusa - Loop of Yesterdays - "Memories of an old Emotion" - new to me. I asked my metal drummer friend for a rec and this is what she told me to check out. Members of Extol and The Dillinger Escape Plan coming together to make extreme progressive metal? Hell yeah. This album just came out and you can bet I'll be spinning a lot.

That album from Azusa is already on. You could pick one from their 2018 album if you want though.

Shows how much I keep track! I'll add the title track from their last album, Heavy Yoke.

    Three picks of the day:

Caustic Wound - Death Posture - Guillotine (killer deathgrind debut this year)

Dolorvotre - Dolorvotre - Worship Black Twilight (Black Twilight Circle is one of my favorite black metal scenes/labels, most of them are not on spotify or any streaming services for that matter but this one is so about time I put it on the playlist)

Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane - Soulreaper (arguably the most important and influential band in melodic black metal and rightfully so)

Cult of Luna - Eternal Kingdom - Ghost Trail (the build up and ending to this song is so good. )

Torche - In Return - Tarpit Carnivore (this bad writes some of the heaviest pop riffs. This isn’t one of them but this is one of the loudest bands I’ve ever seen. Probably did irreversible damage time my ears at some point.

New Lows - Harvest of the Carcass - Born and Razed (merging with hardcore a but not in a crossover way.)

I wish more black twilight stuff was on Spotify. Axeman is so good.

Yeah, I own quite a few tapes and LPs from that label. Top tier label. I love my 3 LP exclusive song sampler boxset. And yeah Axeman rips! Also looking forward to your picks today, since I have heard an album from each of those bands you posted but I have not listened to any songs from the albums you picked!

Funnily enough, I didn't like Storm of the Light's Bane at first. It took me several listens for it to click. That's happened with several landmark albums. Maybe I should make that a theme one day...

Today's theme is silly. It's bands with 4 letter names that end in "th". Mini theme: Seattle bands.

Hoth - Astral Necromancy - "The Living Dreams of a Dead God" - Seattle duo that makes melodic black metal. Obviously Star Wars influenced, right down to the TIE fighter shaped logo. Their other album is a concept album about the rise and fall of Darth Vader.

Xoth - Interdimensional Invocations - "Mountain Machines" - another Seattle based band, black/death. Saw them open for Vektor a few years ago.

Hath - Of Rot and Ruin - "Rituals" - more black/death. This was top 5 for me last year and still gets regular play. If you're gonna listen to one of these, make it this one.

Hath was one of the most impressive new acts to drop music last year and honestly if I were in a band, that's the kind of music I would want to be making.
