The Beach Boys are an American rock band formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961. The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and their friend Al Jardine. Distinguished by their vocal harmonies and early surf songs, they are one of the most influential acts of the rock era.[1] The band drew on the music of jazz-based vocal groups, 1950s rock and roll, and black R&B to create their unique sound, and with Brian as composer, arranger, producer, and de facto leader, they often incorporated classical elements and unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways.

Was looking for a proper thread because I listened to Beach Boys Party! for the first time and was really into it. I know the party chatter is an overdub conceit, but it really works because the studio recordings underneath are so loose and fun and joyful. Such a unique entry in their catalog.

I pretty much own every studio album from these guys. Have had them since I was a kid. Me and my dad went to an auction and he won a storage unit. There was a giant box of vinyls. It was all beach boys. That’s how I got into them. Actually that and Full House lol.

Pet Sounds is one of the 4 or 5 greatest albums ever written

I watched their set on The T.A.M.I. Show tonight and I have no idea where they got the rep as a kinda weak live band. They give shit-hot performances of "Dance, Dance, Dance", "I Get Around" and "Surfin' U.S.A." They legitimately rip.

Mike Love was always a square though, even as a kid.

Jumping in to say “In My Room” is a stunning song. I love so much of their catalogue, but that one’s always stuck with me the hardest.

Wouldn't It Be Nice is my favorite! I've listened to Pet Sounds and Smiley but haven't explored much else after that.

“Do It Again” is a majorly underrated one for them.

I've always thought this song was fun and goofy but the harmonies are incredible

not really a "Do It Again" fan, but most of that album leaves me pretty cold tbh

it's even better as part of "Vegetables" on The Smile Sessions!

Can't believe I missed this thread and even more surprised it's only a page long. Where are The Beach Boys fans here on this site?

I looove Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile (as well as the Smile Sessions), and enjoy Wild Honey, Friends, and Sunflower a good amount.

Said this to @cshadows2887 yesterday but felt the need to repeat: I hope Mike Love has to pass a Lego brick-like kidney stone once a month

Dennis Wilson put it beautifully back in the 60s: "I hope karma fucks up Mike's meditation forever"
