Three songs of the day: one is just one of my favorite bands that never gets enough credit. The others are from two new releases that I keep spinning

Negative Plane - Stained Glass Revelations - Stained Glass Revelations (Occult Black Metal that fringes between first and second wave but still willing to take unorthadox approaches to songwriting and influences outside the realm of traditional black metal, when you are able to make a bassline sound like surf rock and summoning the devil at the same time, you know you have something special. Just check out the full album. I'm not a reviewer like our buddy @Nate_Johnson (I'm happy for you! I can't wait to read your pieces!) so I am failing at giving this album justice. Some similar but not so similar artists would be... FFO: Cultes Des Ghoules, Malokarpatan, Mortuary Drape)

Internal Rot - Grieving Birth - Grieving Birth (grind with me this quarantine. Solid as fuck release this year.)

Jordablod - The Cabinet of Numinous Song - A Grand Unveiling (Similar to Negative Plane but with an overt Post-Punk edge. Will be relying on them since Negative Plane has not released a new album in 9 years despite still being active.)

Is this something new you guys are doing? I will throw up three tracks since they are fresh on my mind!

    Like Rats: Crimson Cosmos
This record is hardcore kids playing death metal and it slays! The transitions between genres are mind boggling.

Trivium: The Ones We Leave Behind
This album has totally got me back on board for this band. If letting your bassist writing your entire record is what it takes then this band should use this method going forward. This is familiar territory but with a Trivium twist.

    Azusa: Detach
This band is a match made in heaven. Like Umbra Vitae, this is a super group that actually works and the final product is just insane. Chaotic/Mathy/Brutal? I am in!

Why yes it is! We are doing a little collaborative playlist with a few challenge rules all in good fun and when ever you have free time we would love to have you aboard! And no one has posted anything from those so great start! I will add those after I do a bit of yardwork.

    Some stuff for today.

The Wizar'd - Subterranean Exile - "Master of the Night" - 2020 album I came across on shreddit. Not sure if I love it, but I like it. Classic sounding heavy metal.

Bolzer - Aura - "Entranced by the Wolfshook" - this is literally the only song I've ever heard by this band but that freaking main riff is so good, had to share.

Cryptic Shift - Visitations from Enceladus - "(Petrified in the) Hypogean Gaol" - death metal that came out yesterday, holy hell it hits hard. Some amazing bass playing too.

As I told @Nate_Johnson about Cryptic Shift, it's a baller move opening your album with a 26-minute song.

Also I tried that Wizar'd album a few weeks ago and just could not handle those vocals.

I've been listening to the Like Rats, Umbra Vitae and Kruelty albums so much atm. The type of death metal that purests no doubt hate but I love lol

The first two are very good. Haven't really gotten to the third yet. In their defense, they are not the first band to combine hardcore elements with death metal.

Honestly that whole Bölzer EP is the best place to start with the band. I would check out the whole thing if I were you.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

    Today's three for me @Jon:

Gulch - Burning Desire To Draw Last Breath - E.P.T.S. (Metallic hardcore upstarts with some black metal leanings in the vox)

Darkest Hour - Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation - Marching to the Killing Rhythm (One of the songs that got me started with more extreme metal)

Indian - From All Purity - The Impetus Bleeds (Wall of noise x 1000)

    Three tracks:

    Make Them Suffer: Save Yourself
I am reviewing the new album later this month so I have been digging into their discography along with some other melodeath. These guys are definitely a gateway band into the genre and border on metalcore.

    Kardashev: Beside Cliffs and Chasms
With the new album coming out on the 12th, I decided to give this album a spin and it does not disappoint. Progressive and Atmospheric Death Metal. To top it all off, they added the bassist from Holy Fawn for the new album.

    Beneath the Massacre: Treacherous
Pure brutality in two and half minutes. Just don't have any sharp objects around.
