Wow MGK is just going full pop punk now. I wonder how his fanbase is gonna take this.
    Song isn't bad.

EDIT: Now realize that his last two rock songs he put out have pretty crazy streaming numbers. Guess his fans are loving it!

Yeah, they didn't have "pretty big singles" from Nine, honestly. IRWIHY, BIOMY, and Darkside had moderate success. Disappointing after the success of California in 2016.

  5. And this is why I’ll continue to point out how wrong this take is. Cause it’s just not connected to reality. It’s just not. A band like Pearl Jam, for example would ***kill*** for the same success right now. And they had a good album launch.

MGK’s been saying he’s making a pop punk album with Travis so idk if it’s a permanent switch from rap but this entire album will be pop punk

Pearl Jam is a weird comparison to Blink, though, cuz I feel their fans want two different things. PJ can never have a hit song again and their tours will continue to fill baseball stadiums. Their fans just want the deep cuts anyways. But Blink, I feel like they are a singles band for a majority of their fanbase. The hits stop coming in, the average crowd size might start to get smaller.

But yeah at the end of the day, for a band that's been out for 20 years, an album debuting at #3 and having a single peak at #10 on the rock charts is pretty desirable. But I still think their team was anticipating IRWIHY to be way more popular than it was.

But then again if they thought IRWIHY would be a huge hit, why didn't they make a music video for it? LOL god this album roll out really confuses me.

I’m very optimistic about this MGK and Travis project. That song is catchy as hell.

That song was pretty good. I think what was surprising to me was that it was actually done...tastefully? Not sure if that's the right way to put it, but it sounds like it came from someone who obviously knew his way around that genre already and wanted to make something unique with it. Sometimes genre hopping can end up sounding like a cheap knock-off version of whatever style the artist is attempting.

It's better and more tasteful than Good Charlotte's Bloody Valentine. So I'll give it that. Def better than I expected lol

At this point, we might as well just make a separate "Travis Barker" thread.

  17. Everyone should seriously just cancel every public event until 2021. They're going to anyways. Might as well just get it over with.

Agreed. We’re not getting back to concerts or festivals being a thing until a vaccine is here. The risk is way too high and insurance won’t touch events like concerts for a long time.

It's official. I think "Sober" is one of Blink-182's all-time greatest songs written since S/T. It's still my favorite off CA and I feel like it would've given BTD a run for it's money if it was pushed as a single. It still blows my mind every time I listen to it.

Would totally have worked great as a radio single, but I think Left Alone and San Diego are better songs overall.
