It’s one thing to be shrewd and recognize that, yes, these politicians are going to do shitty things. But that’s because they are bad people doing bad work on behalf of powerful bad actors. It’s wild to defend it as okay when someone sells out what they acted like was a value to them. Why spend the time defending them when you could more deeply question a poltiical system that encourages cynicism and hedging bets on meaningful issues? Gillebrand does not need us to cover for her while she spits on Tara Reade.

On a related note, Abrams has said some things that sound straight-up sociopathic to me. Between this obviously obtuse defense of Biden while her people are begging Biden’s circle to pressure him to pick her, to her comments about one day being president, it’s just weird as fuck to watch.
