Leto is in movies people love and a huge band, so wrong. Him winning an award that was voted by the people in the industry for acting means just that, he's an award winning actor. Lady in the Water has terrible plot progression and makes you take horrible leaps in logic to flow it. The sad part is I believe that you believe in what you are saying.

  2. Go for it, can't think of a better way to make sure more people check out the movie than that. Look at you go.

The real world is not the Internet. Go to your local mall/Wal-Mart/downtown area and ask 100 people who Jared Leto is and what he has done. It won't break 25.

What is the whole "the sad part is..." nonsense for? It is a waste of time.

I doubt anyone is masochistic enough to see a movie because someone told them how bad it is. It has been almost completely forgotten since its release, and just like Indiana Jones trying to stop the Ark from being found led to its discovery, it would be something that would weigh on my soul.

  5. I've heard from quite a few people that tell me they see movies if you hate them. Been an ongoing joke for a while. And not that many people knew about the movie to begin with, so how or if it's forgotten means ... I dunno, next to nothing.

Sadly the Internet and social media has taken over the real world so I have to disagree again.

  7. ... his band is inarguably one of the largest of the past 10 years, sold some 15 million copies of those albums. The mall is absolutely where the largest collection of people that have heard of Jared Leto would be.

  8. Pretty sure this is just bad performance art now.

I would have to quit movies if I had to sit through those things more than once. These people will never be able to grow as cinephiles if they reject the classics and masterpieces and sit through questionable material.

This whole conversation has been ridiculous but a lot of fun. The sad part was joke btw, didn't mean for you to take it seriously.

I saw the Room because I was told it was awful.

No, it has not. That is crazy.

I don't think I have ever heard any of their songs, but most malls are going to have a lot of older people who do not follow popular music. You are being painfully specific.

What is this? Things like this that are so well written as well as your pieces in the weekly analysts threads but then you go and calm M Nights work is great. I'm getting crazy mixed signals lol. I bet you could write a piece on Birdemic and make it sound like a masterpiece.

  14. And, like usual, your unwavering attachment to your own ignorance in spite of facts is why you're so easily proven wrong. Jared Leto is very, very well known. On the cover of tabloids, covered on all the "entertainment" shows at night, and spans those that remember him from his My So Called Life days, all the way up to those that follow his annoyingly massive, massive band. His green jacket spent the last few days trending at number one Facebook and Twitter ... you are being painfully willfully obtuse.

I wish it wasn't true. Our presidential candidates debate on Twitter. If that's not a perfect example, I don't know what is. This movie is a perfect example as well. People I know that in a million years wouldn't be aware of this movie, the reviews or the behind the scenes drama have come up to me and talked about it. Everyone is connected online.

No, you are just not looking outside of your bubble. It is a small percentage.

  17. Once every few months a thread gets popular and he trolls it. It's more fun to watch once I realized what he was doing.

Birdemic is supposed to be terrible. Why would I praise it?

I like good movies and dislike bad movies. There is no calculation behind it, so I do not know what to tell you. The only ideological bent you could maybe find is that I focus on political and class themes when watching film, but that is present everywhere.

I assumed so, but he's written some decent stuff about film in the past. I also commented on the B side thread that my favorite was Smash Mouths Walking on the Sun, so trolling can be fun sometimes. I don't think I'd take. It to his extent though. Thanks for the info sir!

  21. That's what makes these forays so exceptionally annoying and makes just banning him (again) so frustrating of a call.

That was exactly my point! I don't know why you resort to calling people trolls and dragging these things on.

  23. Because I don't like when people say factually incorrect things and then double down.

It does kind of stop a conversation in its tracks.

On the bright side, we have 3 pages on this thread so where no one had been ridiculous to call the DC films garbage so I'll take the small victories where I can get them.
