My understanding of the rumors were that it was the addition of Frank Ocean that bumped MCR down, not Rage. But I guess we won't really know for sure.

Either way, by that point, they realized the demand was there that they could do a whole arena tour and I don't think playing Coachella was really a big deal for them anymore. Especially since every single one of their UK, Europe, and US dates sold out almost instantly. I'm so glad they didn't end up on the Coachella bill.

99% sure it's Rage because it's confirmed that the lineup was booked before Rage reached out to Paul Tollett. Obviously anything is possible, but Frank was booked way before Rage was

Just realized that my first concert ever was June 20th, 2000 so the MCR Milton Keynes show on June 20th would have been 20 years after that. Would have loved to been able to say that I was seeing my favorite band on that day

    Hello everyone!

My name is Anton, and I'm one of the hosts of a podcast called On In Five! We cover the history of famous bands and artists that we love and find interesting. We started a series on My Chemical Romance on Monday, and we are really proud of it! You can check it out at the following links:

    iTunes / Google Podcasts / Spotify / Website/ RSS

In part one of our series on post hardcore staples My Chemical Romance, we look at where the members of the band came from, how a national tragedy would help birth the band, and how they would rocket from nothing to famous in a very short time.

On In Five pulls back the curtain on some of the biggest bands across all genres and decades. We give a detailed account of bands' uprisings while braiding in a bit of humor and stories of our own musical past. Whether you are are an avid music fan, or just want to hear some stories behind your favorite bands, come join Anton Reiter, Austin Thomas, and Ethan Bonin as we do the research and tell the story.

Was thinking about the time in 2003 when I saw My Chemical Romance open for Taking Back Sunday, Recover, and From Autumn to Ashes to about 20 people. Lol. I was a big fan of I Brought. Never would have thought they would blow up like they did.

saw them again next year at Warper Tour to a very big crowd on a side stage. And about 2-3 years later I walked by them playing a headlining stage at Warped to an absolutely massive crowd.

Didn't know that The Used were signed to a label before MCR tbh. That's pretty wild

The Used's debut album came out a month before MCR's, but The Used started off on Reprise but MCR's first album was on an indie label (Eyeball) and they signed with Reprise after.

Idk about Bert being what pushed labels to sign MCR. A lot of labels were courting the band well before they signed. I know Craig Aaronson pushed hard for them too. The amount of times the Used has been bringing up MCR in interviews lately also makes me think this is not quite what happened.

I kinda doubt they'll release anything between now and then (I think they want to capitalize on the reunion hype) but I also can't imagine being them and having to do nothing for a full year.

How long does reunion hype last? Because I feel like even before COVID they already weren’t fully capitalizing on the reunion hype.

I mean, they sold out a ton of arenas around the world and are keeping the money by postponing rather than cancelling dates, i'd sure say that's capitalizing on reunion hype.

What @Sean Murphy said. I don't see the hype dying down while no concerts can happen

if they had any plans to release new music as well, my guess is those get pushed back as well. can't see them releasing an album they can't/won't tour on for a year plus. we just (as usual) got ourselves worked up to assuming new music was coming lol
