I’m 100% here for new music from the Linkin Park crew, & also 100% here for it being under the “Linkin Park” name.

Not sure why then using the name means they gotta do all the old songs. Just do a handful of songs that still work, incorporate elements of ones that don’t completely work into medleys/intros/outros, & otherwise lean into new material.

I would prefer the remaining members play together under a new name, but I know that's unlikely. What I really do NOT want to see is adding a new singer to the band.

My guess is the actual band is just the five of them but they bring on someone as a touring member to cover a lot of the parts Mike would usually do so he can be more of a frontman

Sounds like my preference is pretty different from everyone else - I think I'd prefer they write new music with just Mike, and also with guest singers for the hooks like rap arists do, then have a touring member do the parts live.

I also think the idea of bands changing their name when the frontman passes/leaves/whatever absurd. Especially in this case where these 5 guys have been there from the start.

I guess I just don't see the need for even a new touring vocalist. At least in, like, that kinda prominent role. If that's what they see fit to do, I obviously support it, but I'd be cool w/ the next era of Linkin Park leaving anything the 5-piece can't pull off in the past instead of trying to replicate what Chester brought to the table.

Which is all the more reason why I love that they're apparently working on new stuff before announcing anything or playing any shows or whatever. Get that new album together before playing any full sets, y'know? Then just, boom, Linkin Park 2.0.

Yeah I don't really like the idea of a new singer, touring or not

When I said touring member, I meant more like what Green Day and All Time Low have (also the role Jon Green filled at the tribute show). Just someone who mostly does guitar/keys/whatever other instrument is needed and maybe a harmony part here and there. Mike is more than capable of fronting a full Linkin Park set on his own even before considering whatever new music they're writing, but having somebody help cover all the instrumental parts he was responsible for would let him really step into that role.

That makes a little more sense to me. Aren't those kinda touring members super common for bands this size? Not sure how much they'd need it, but it'd be fine.

I guess the initial wording made me think of a touring member who'd contribute some lead parts here & there for some reason, lol, which I wouldn't like.

Yeah, especially for a band like Linkin Park where there are so many layers in their songs that a ton of it has to be on playback if they don't (which is usually what they do). It's why they never played Robot Boy (in full) or Skin To Bone live.

This is reminding me that I never got to see classic Linkin Park live. Had tickets to a show that got canceled 'cause Chester broke his leg.

The 2015 tour? My friend went to the first two shows on the tour and I was at the show he actually broke his ankle at and the band was on fire. Really sucks that the tour had to get cut so short.

I was at the Indy show. The day he broke it. Last time I saw them live :( I was front row drove from Chicago to Indy for that show

I saw them every time they where in Chicago from meteora world tour through the last one they did in Tinley plus driving down to Indy cuz rise against at the time was like my 2nd fave band. I wasn’t gonna miss my 2 favorite bands on the same bill. Oh plus I like of mice and men at the time too so it was a no brainer

so in total I think I saw them 7 times over a 11 year period. I also had pit tickets for the one more light tour

I've listened to "A Thousand Suns" a few times in the last week or two... that album is hitting different right now. It's great.

I've been listening to ATS this week too. I decided to learn the guitar parts for Burning in the Skies, and then went from there.

I’ve been a lp fan for 20 years and ats is the only album I don’t like and never got into and idk why I think the only songs I actually like off of it are blackout and the bonus track blackbirds

Chester's screams on Blackout though... Wow.

  22. This is the album Mike's solo reminded me of the most. I feel like this is the one he had the most influence on

Been thinking a lot about Chester lately, so I've been falling back into a Linkin Park wormhole.

Excited to hear that they're working on new music again. It'll be interesting to see if they move forward with a replacement. I'm here for it either way.
