The bracket doesn’t even have all their songs and the lack of Me, among many others, is appalling

Hopeful that every time I get notification for this thread, it's because If You're Too Shy has leaked

As much as I love their progression that song still rocks my socks.

It's not my favourite of theirs but my favourite off that list.

That ILIWYS color choice in the bracket is so annoying, lol. I get the aesthetic choice, but let me read the dang song titles w/out straining myself, sheesh.

All they needed was black outline or something around the letters lmao, design 101

Ok, cool, but why should I spend energy discussing a song that isn't out yet when I can talk about how impossible it is for me to choose between "Sincerity is Scary" & "Frail State of Mind" in the final round of my bracket, gosh, fuck.

(Ironically, I'm doing this bracket while procrastinating on talking sincerely to my best friend about my recent state of mind, LOL, oops.)

    Sending my love

I wanted to share some thoughts I've been having the last day or two about this band. I've struggled a bit recently with how much Matty can be a total dipshit and make me embarrassed to be a fan of this band. I struggle with how they go back and forth between phases of being totally into it and then seemingly like they're tired, burned out, and simply bored while on stage. But then I think of the great moments, the intense emotional connection I feel with this band and the feelings I've had while at some of their shows that I'll never forget.

Specifically Reading Festival last fall. I've been to almost 400 concerts in my life, and watching The 1975 headline Reading last year is without a doubt the greatest live set I think I've ever witnessed. There was something so magical about that night. (The whole festival, really, was a big deal for me. I've wanted to attend Reading for nearly a decade, ever since watching MCR headline in 2011. Getting to see three of my favorite bands headline a stage at this festival, was truly remarkable). It wasn't just a 1975 headliner, it was a 1975 headliner in their home country and something that they declared would be, and was, the most important show of their career.

Everything about it was so insane. Seeing the first live performance of People, and just over 24 hours after it was released, was absolutely mental. If you've watched a video of that performance, when Matty grabs the camera for the scream line, it was positively jaw dropping. Then Give Yourself a Try right after. That song already means the world to me, but in the UK, at festivals, the crowd actually "sings along" to guitar riffs, and as soon as the main riff kicked in and the whole field of people (Nearly 100,000) "do-do-do"ing along with the main riff was so cool. After seeing multiple A Brief Inquiry shows in the US with a scaled back production, I finally got to witness The 1975's FULL production for this tour, with all of the video screens intact, and finally the treadmill bit for Sincerity is Scary. Even though I had seen The 1975 around 15 times before, I had never seen The City live until Reading. It was also the only show on this tour I got to see Girls live. And then came I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes). Another song that means the absolute world to me, but I never had experienced like I did that night. I absolutely bawled my eyes out this time, while hearing so many people sing along.

It was truly one of the greatest nights of my life. I rewatch this set at least 1-2 times each month, because it's just that good. Not to mention you can see me in the live stream several times. I'm certainly bummed that the US tour got postponed - I so hope that I still get to see at least one 1975 show in 2020. I am so ecstatic for Too Shy to come out this week, and so excited for Notes.

EDIT: It also makes me think of @thenewmatthewperry who I met because of this band and has become a very great friend!!! And I'm so grateful for the shows we got to go to together.

This is 100% making me think that 30 second leak is just a bad TikTok compression. It sounds huge.

  21. Yeah the compression on that tiktok is awful but all the comments on it are so dumb. Like, it's not possible to edit the crowd out THAT well. Furthermore, people saying it's not Matty have clearly never listened to The 1975 cause that is without a doubt Matty.
