I think Common Dreads is on my top too because I saw them twice on that tour cycle (once with A Day To Remember and once with Haste The Day) and those songs just hit differently live.

Common Dreads has the complete nostalgia package for me. Was basically all me and my mates listened to in the summer of 2009. Saw them at Reading 2010 too, that was absolutely immense.

CD and TTTS are both great.

So interesting for me because I was utterly obsessed with the singles for those albums and the singles in between, but for some reason the full albums never clicked. They were right up my alley during that time too. Might have been a similar thing to @Petit nain des Îles was talking about, in terms of overplaying.

I always hated the mix for TTTS and CD, always seemed “tinny” and thin. AFFOC was the first time they got a much fuller sound, which added to the massive improvement in songwriting. From there on, I was hooked.

  5. That is so funny, I think CD is by far my favourite album by them sonically and AFFOC is the opposite, sounds overcompressed and cluttered (still love it). Goes to show how subjective this can sometimes be.

oh my god, I'm back on my bullshit Prestigious

I definitely didn't like CD as much at the time as I do now. I was obsessed with TTTS and CD was so different that I didn't get properly into right away outside of the heavier songs.

  7. Anyone know where Americans can order copies of this on vinyl? The prices on their store are pretty steep and I know shipping will be too, since it's from the UK.

Common Dreads has Juggernauts, Solidarity, Zzzonked, No Sleep Tonight and The Jester and therefore must be a Very Good album.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

also y'know "Hectic", possibly this band's best song

I pre-ordered the vinyl and based in the US. Apparently it shipped on the 9th but still haven’t got it yet. I am sure it will be here any day now.

  12. From their online store? Did it ship from the UK?

Yeah, it was from their online store and shipped from the UK. Pain to pay the extra shipping cost (about $8) but I am a big Shikari fan so worth it. Hoping it comes in today.

Having listened to this more times, Marionettes II is probably my favourite.

Also the intro to Satellites gives me goosebumps every time

I just love that they threw an almost 4 minute orchestral banger in the middle of this thing.

A 4 minute orchestral banger about climate change, no less.

AFFOC was an album I never liked that much when it came out beyond a few songs but I've gotten more into it as time goes on.

I just don't like talking in songs much.

They really done messed up by not switching satellites and the king

satellites is one of my fav ES songs now. Hopefully they “single” that song up

That would improve the ending a ton.

  22. Agreed, that would be genius. Might make a playlist and just listen to it that way...

Yeah, just listened to the album with those two switched...The King coming off Marionettes II works to pick the album back up after the weirdness, and the jubilant and triumphant nature of satellites works as a penultimate track
