Really happy to see Nancy Wilson on the list. I feel like I'd have to cheat and have Nancy, Roger Fisher and Howard Leese as one number as a team.

Interesting to see Lou Reed and not any of the awesome guitarists he worked with like Rathke, Morrison, Wagner/Hunter, Quine, etc.

Glad to see James Hetfield rather than the thrash shredders. His gift for melody is why Metallica is/was the biggest metal band in the world. One of the truly great rhythm guitarists.

And total nitpick, but I'd add Fairport Convention to Richard Thompson's cv there.

Also curious what made you pick Gary Rossington over Alan Collins. I'm not sure I know them apart from each other enough to pick, I always think of them as such a duo.

Hetfield but no Hammett? And Mustaine is better than both of them by miles

Yeah I'm far from well-versed on session guys. Like Dean Parks is probably amazing and is on a ton of records I have...but I'm not sure which solos/licks are him.

Also shit I forgot Steve Lukather!

Underrated guy that's properly high on that list: John Fogerty. One of the best at blending rhythm and lead. The solo on "Bad Moon Rising" is masterful.

Not intentionally related to the current topic (though relevant 'cause Jonny Greenwood), but I've realized that The King of Limbs is one of my favorites Radiohead albums.

Wasn't that into it when it came out, but if I'm gonna listen to them, which honestly isn't that often, TKoL is behind only In Rainbows & OK Computer in what I'm most likely to throw on. And even then, if I'm in specifically an In Rainbows mood, & wanna listen to more afterwards, I'll go TKoL second.

Johnny is up there for me. Mostly as an acoustic player, but I like his electric work on the early albums a ton. He'd definitely be on my list.

  24. I love guitar centric music but I feel like my list would be so different I always feel like an alien when I see most of those names. I need to listen to more pre-80's stuff though. I'm to blame for my lack of knowledge in that aspect.
