Listening to OK Computer tonight and it really is an absolutely fantastic album.

 

Well ahead of its time.

Radiohead are having online meetings and discussing celebrating 20 years of 'Kid A'

 

Doubt it happens this year but I would go to that in a heartbeat

 

I think it was almost at capacity when I looked into tickets a while back, its probably more due to UC availability being in question with Hawks/Bulls current seasons and future ones.

 

Id be very down but there’s no chance it happens this year, and from that article I doubt the band would even do it. Sounds more like the 20 year special anniversary will be a box set like with OK Computer

thinking this might be a good time to actually give a listen to the minidiscs. Has anyone in here done all 16 hours?

 

I have! I ended up only keeping 2 and a half hours though and they’re my favorite band.

 

OK I have been digging through reddit for some sort of compilation of the "best of" stuff, is that essentially what you have? Did you create your own personal best of, or what did you do to get down to those 2 and a half hours?

 

mine is basically all the never before heard songs, unique demos, really good versions, etc. I just listened through and made note of what I liked before I started eliminating stuff. Also deleted basically all the live stuff and early mixes of the album which takes off a good amount.

 

Ah gotcha, so you were probably first listening to the discs broken into tracks already, instead of doing the legwork of splitting the files yourself? Are the "early mixes of the album" that you cut out essentially what we ended up with on record, just mixed differently? I assume any album tracks that were notable different fall into what you would call unique demos or good versions?

 

Yeah you got it. I listened to it with the tracks separated. And yeah by “early mixes” I meant 99% the same as the album with tiny tweaks in the mix. Anything with a notable difference I kept, but if there was a unique song with 3 or 4 different demos on here I just kept the best one

 

Haven’t listened to it in a while but I love their performances on Colbert back in 2011. The horns compliment the songs so well. Wish they’d do that more

I think that’s my favorite version of Daily Mail and Codex. Both sound amazing.
