What the heck on all these reviews. Guess I’m doing a Fiona Apple dive tonight.

Me neither. I kinda wish it didn't get a 100 on all these sites because it's just going to give people an excuse to spout hate.

 

Ok, Ladies is pretty great.

 

I've always tried to get into her but never really could. I definitely realized her influence and understood her legend status but could never get it to click.

This record is fucking special though. I honestly can't believe what I'm hearing it's that good.

 

I think someone else said it already but the use of percussion throughout really seals this one for me.

 

this is my favorite first listen of one of her albums I've had, that's for sure

 

Damn this this is nuts. Some of it has been a little too ~out there~ for me personally, but the title track, Newspaper, and Ladies have really wowed me so far

 

Or “Paper Bag”

 

I think “Heavy Balloon” through “On I Go” is my favorite run. Love it.


Edit: but also the run from “I want you to love me” to “on I go”. Duh.

This album is insanely good. Can't wait to see where this places on people's AOTY lists lol

 

it'll be in my top 3 for sure no matter what else comes out

 

Yeah, probably the first truly "great" release of this year

Yeah, this ain't doing it for me at all. Not nearly enough variety in the sound to sustain for 50 minutes.

Glad people are really digging it though.

Your opinion and all...but I disagree obviously. I’d say I got 5-6 record I’d characterize as great.

 

I definitely love 2-3 records this year, this one just seems miles above everything else.

 

This, Waxahatchee, Yves Tumor and Porridge Radio are slam dunk greats for me.

U.S. Girls and Dogleg just outside of that distinction.
