oh my god, I'm back on my bullshit Prestigious

This is... Weird. Not sure how I feel about it, but it's certainly more interesting than their last two album, I'll give them that. This band is supposed to be weird.

The chorus of Marionettes I is so fucking cool

Rou was right about this album being all encompassing, but in a way that I wasn’t expecting. It has the pop bops and strength of songwriting from the Spark, the interludes and electronic elements from TTTS/CD, the rap breaks and etc from Mindsweep/AFFOC

This whole album seems looks like took the songwriting approach of their one-off experimental songs (myopia, revolt of the atoms, ghandi) and went for it on every song

    also, NO JOKE MOMENTS!! FINALLY

Personally, I think the joke moments make their music feel more organic and show a bit of their personality in comparison to other artists. I think it wouldn't work on an album with this theme, but I do miss it.

I definitely also miss the heavier side to them, but it's still a great record.

See you in hell, or see you when I see you. Prestigious

The WILL OF THE PEOPLE bit on dreamer's hotel is probably the closest thing to a shikari moment on here

Me and a friend get major Gandhi Mate, Ghandi vibes from the drums in the chorus of Marionettes I.

The interlude into TINA is so reminiscent of the interlude into SYNAW.

Also the dance bits on this are arguably the best part. Would love some Shikari Sound System remixes

Loving this so far. Dreamer’s Hotel probably still my fav.

  11. I can see that. I definitely was surprised when the album ended without one more big thing. The King isn't necessarily a closing track, even if I love it.

Honestly wish there was a Contesllations-type track or something as the penultimate track that flowed into Waltzing

The only song I don't fully love is the king and even then I like the vocal delivery in it a ton and think its unique. This is the most cohesive ES release for me I think.

I think Waltzing II could have been expanded into something like that.

Satellites is about Rou's coming out or his sexuality at the very least, right? It's a beautiful way of discussing it if so. It's a wonderful song.

    "Now online they discuss
    Whether I exist
And in the court they decide
    Who I can kiss"

    "I still drag the closet
All my limbs, they ache inside
And surely all my family and my friends
    My god and my ends
    They cannot all be wrong
    So I play along"

it was written after one of his friends who came out as gay and discussed coming to terms with how hard it was for them to show their sexuality and displays of public affection for one another, not about him personally
