that was fun. I need to redo it after seeing Doctor Sleep, I’ve heard its great and that section is probably my weakest bracket, despite Get Out being an excellent film.

 

Honestly not in love with either of those adaptations, so I didn't care too much about that portion of the bracket. I largely went with the films that had the most replay value for myself

 

I feel I can safely say each of those movies offer up something to the genre. Very good list.

Hereditary rules but I still haven't watched it a second time lol gotta be in a mood for that one, and uhhh, I'm not even really sure what that mood would have to be

 

Hereditary is the film I always use for friends as the example of what this new age of horror is. It’s reliably scary to satisfy that side things, but also so well written and acted. Trying to get non horror fans to understand what this wave of indie horror is can be difficult sometimes. As much as I love a lot of films like The Lighthouse or The VVitch, I always feel like I have to give them the caveat that they aren’t jump scare slashers. I need to know their taste in movies before I can tell them to see stuff like that b

 

I watched it a second time a day later because I wanted to show my friends, ha.

 

Mostly through the first season of The Strain. Really loving it.

 

This is close to mine exactly except I’d put The Witch over Get Out and maaaaaybe Cabin over Evil Dead

It’s fun to see everybody’s different tastes given there is no right or wrong. I don’t think Us is very good and Hereditary is the best horror movie of the decade by an extremely wide margin in my eyes so it’s always fascinating to see where others differ

 

watched the new Grudge out of boredom. Wow that was dull. Felt way longer than an hour and a half lol

 

Still haven’t seen Hereditary

 

I think Hereditary and Get Out would be my final two, but The Witch is a tough one to lose and having The Lighthouse go so quickly is a bummer. Hereditary takes it no matter what since that’s one of my favorites of the decade period, of any genre.

 

Yeah, I think I just typically prefer movies that have more of a sense of humor than prestige horror. But I also think I prefer the other A24 picks up there (as well as Midsommar) to Hereditary, so what do I know.

And I say that all despite having loved Hereditary, lol

 

The movie blew me away. Literally knocked my head clean off my neck!

 

Watching Stephen King’s Thinner for my podcast. Forgot how terrible it is - both in execution and also the overt racism and sexism.

 

i think I saw that on HBO when I was high school and didn’t think much of it. Watched it again maybe 5 years ago and the bad makeup/fat suit looked soooo soooo bad!

 

Anyone seen the two Creep movies on Netflix? They were pretty fun.

 

Lol it’s gets so bad. S2 opening is cool tho

 

I’m in the vast minority here saying I wasn’t a fan of either. Seems to be a popular couple of movies around here tho.

 

The first 2 was decent but I didn't like the second
