FIOE would probably be my favorite if the killing lies -> 15 minutes stretch was gone. Is This It is obviously a classic and I’ve grown to view Comedown Machine in the same tier. Room of Fire is great but I’d put it second to last personally. Half of Angels has their best songs the other half has their worst. Still sinking my teeth into this one.

between The Strokes discography and The Voidz, JC is easily in my top 5 songwriters

I feel like I see that a lot about that stretch of Killing Lies, Fear of Sleep, and 15 Minutes and it always surprises me. But I love every track, so

The snare drum at 1:45 of Killing Lies is legit one of my favorite moments on the album. And the stutter-step snare hits leading to the second chorus. Mmmm

Fear of Sleep is one of the best tracks from that record. The other 2....not so much.

My 5 Absolute Keepers from FIOE:

    Razorblade
    You Only Live Once
    Electricityscape
    Ize of the World
    Fear of Sleep

“Electricityscape” and “Ize of the World” are some awful song titles, killer tunes though.

Angles suffers the most from the band clearly not being in the same room to record stuff

still a bunch of heat on it tho

I remember listening to Angles when it first came out and liking it, but after revisiting it this one is a whole lot better. Other than Angles and The New Abnormal, I pretty much only know The Strokes for their singles. I should probably check out their earlier albums now.

    2. Is This It?
    3. Angles
    4. FIOE
    5. Comedown Machine

Angles has one bad song imo (You’re So Right), the first 7 of FIOE, Fear it Sleep, and Red Light are stellar, the rest is forgettable, and I haven’t listened to CM enough to form a solid opinion, but based on how everyone here loves it I’ll have to give it another listen.

The Voidz are fucking incredible, both of the albums are so wild but stay interesting and listenable all the way through despite their length, and Julian sounds phenomenal on them

Human Sadness and Father Electricity are two of the best songs he's ever made

  12. I just listened to Angles for the first time in some time and that album delivers - I love it.

The Voidz are great, I really liked their last album.

The first half of that album is so much stronger than the second half.

As a whole I agree but I think the best songs are pretty equally scattered across the record.

It’s the second best since Room on Fire. Second only to Comedown Machine.

Man.....Room on Fire might be their best. Fuck. I think it’s slight more consistent than Is This It? which is insanely stacked in its own right. Every single song on ROF is essential keeper level.

I have an extremely hard time ranking Strokes albums because they're literally all almost equal to me, and this one matches right up with those. I think they're a remarkably consistent band

Thinking about that time they hung out with Guns N Roses and played Family Feud against GBV

Love that video. They really were my Nirvana moment. I was really into pop punk and emo in 8th grade and freshman year of high school (showing my age here). And then Is This It dropped and my entire life changed. Pretty easily the most influential album of my entire life. It sent me down the indie rock rabbit hole. I started wearing jean jackets. I started wearing skinny jeans.

Is This It and Full Collapse were my two identities

Does anyone know if they recorded this new album live or like all together in the studio...???

This part in particular really makes it seem that way.
